Help with Xcarlink install in Seattle

I have a 2005 RX8 with the Bose audio system. My firmware version is 9.73.

I've gotten a new Xcarlink ipod adapter to connect my ipod.
I'm planning on doing the install this week but had a couple of questions as to where I could place the xcarlink adapter.

Is there any place, where I could screw it down or do I just put it behind my radio?

Honestly, I dont really trust myself with my install. I'm pretty clumsy with tools

If there is anyone who could help me out with the install in seattle, it'd be great.

I'm ready to offer some cash or treat you to a couple of beers for the help

Thanks!

p.s. did try searching the forums but didnt find any conclusive answer to my first question. Please merge with an existing thread if this is a duplicate.

Just place it (or 3M tape it) behind your radio. It's a VERY simple install.

i put mine on a piece of insulation that was on top of the trans tunnel behind the ash tray, its not fastend down or anything.

the only tools you need are screw drivers if memory serves, shouldn't be able to do to much damage with those :D

cant physicaly help you, im across the country

its a super ez install. the hardest part is getting the radio out, which there is plenty of help for here.

This is a GREAT question. I got the same thing with the bluetooth a few months back. Here is a setup idea for you:

I have the bluetooth microphone ran up under the driver steering wheel and up the side to be exposed right to the left side of the sun visor - no wires are visible.

As for the actual black box that are the guts, place it behind the upholstery adjacent to the drivers right leg, it fits perfectly and out of the way and you can access it by just pulling the carpet back.

Enjoy it!

Thanks for the answers guys!

I finished the install today. It took me quite a while to figure out the hidden bolt but found it with the help of

But while trying to remove it, I dropped my neighbour's 10mm socket behind the carpet, I think.

Is there anyway I can try to retrieve it? I would hate to tell him that I lost it especially since its a part of his tool kit.

Hey man,

Yeah, you know that little bolt was almost the end of my stereo system myself! Unless you can't get in there some how, then I would just buy another socket, they are sold separately at Sears.

But good job, enjoy it!!

you could try a magnet and work the socket up to where you could grab it
