ok now i know this is gonna seem kinda dumb but i have been researching parts for 8's and i keep coming across photos with a part that i cant figure out and its driving me nuts. In the photos i come across there is a control device of some sort mounted in the center column just behind the shifter, WTF is it???? I wish i could be more in depth but all the pics i've seen dont offer any good angles. If you could please help me with this so i could get to sleep that would be appreciated, Rob

Err...aftermarket nav systems are superior...

And as chet said...it would get in the way of muh arm...

 

Spot on Evilwinkle. The features on the Navs are improving every second month or so...

 

well mine was free and 4 years ago pretty much on the same level at the time as most aftermarkets anyway.

not all aftermarket ones are superior by the way, some of them can be quite cumbersome to keep updated, factory one really isn't that bad, save for having to spend 200 bucks to keep it current and dvd releases take forever.
