Has anyone fried their Ipod inside the center armrest?

For those of you who have Ipods installed inside the center armrest, don't you worry about the heat frying the electronics and hard drive. I already have an Ipod mini and I am going to hook it up next month. I was planning on putting it in the glove compartment but I read some threads on people who have installed them in the center armrest. My center armrest gets really hot and it seems like a bad place to keep an electronic device because of the heat. Has anyone fried their Ipod?

I've had my iPod photo hooked up with a dension icelink inside the center console for two months and haven't had any issues so far. It does get kind of warm and ipod also puts out some heat as well but I don't think its enough to fry it.

Knock on wood.

No problem yet. Then again it isn't summer yet.

My iPod has been in there daily since July of 2003 and I haven't had any problems. So I wouldn't worry about it.

Same here, plus I have mine charging with my FM mod, so I really wouldn't have any concerns

That's why I don't like iPods. They are kind of small and fragile, and if you widen your grip enough the whole thing fits in one hand...

...just like my nuts.

I have dropped my iPod probably 3 times and the thing is still ticking. I would hardly call it fragile, from my perspective. Anyhow, I have the same mod (more or less) - the iPod in the center console. I agree that it gets alarmingly hot, but like everyone else that has posted about this, no problems so far with the iPod.

What I truly wish is for a clean way to retrofit a single or double din deck in the RX8. Then I could swap an Alpine deck in and use the Alpine iPod interface and Sirius radio. This is my biggest complaint about the RX8 - the proprietary stereo system.

ipods are definitely not fragile. mine takes a lot of damage, and keeps on ticking.... i actually had one dent but kept working. then i disconnected it when it says not to disconnect it, and fried the software. i sent it to apple and they gave me a new one.
