I've had a sneaking suspicion that the "leather" of the GT seats (the brown sections of tan/black interior) are not actually leather, but some sort of pleather. I know the door panels and the seat side-bolsters are for sure not leather. But the seats I think aren't leather, either. I think this has been discussed before, having come up a few times in my searches, but I don't think a definitive answer was arrived at.

If they aren't leather, then... wtf Mazda?

i know the all black interior on my gt was leather where your body touches the back and sides were vinyl i helped do my inteior an cut it all apart

Its leather with vinyl sides. It's just not high quality european leather you're refering to.

I don't have any reason to believe that my seats aren't leather... Trying cleaning and conditioning them with something like Lexol's products. I noticed a difference after doing that after owning mine for a year.

 

What year is your car?

I know the 2004 leather seats feels like plastic and are hard as hell.

The 2006 and up leather are a lot better.

 

even the edges on the 04 that has a lined pattern and feels like hard plastic is leather. it is somehow pressed or stamped. the interior guy said that was the first time he seen that,plus almost all cars except higher end it is leather on top and vinyl on the back and sides and when say sides i mean where the controls are

 

My Shinka has real leather seats - seat and sides. I don't do pleather.
