GPS Unit Mounting

Just installed my Garmin Nuvi on Kuda USA mount. I ordered their mount plus a mount to hold the Garmin and it is a great location for the unit rather than on the windshield. The wiring to the Nuvi is hidden inside the mount. Great piece.

Looks good! Does the passenger knee hit the GPS in that spot?

Looks great, I ordered one of those myself but it hasn't arrived yet. I'm glad that it looks so clean! I was surprised that it didn't exceed $100 for the whole thing.

I tried installing a walmart mount on the side of the console for the time being so I could use my phone as a bluetooth radar detector display, it was absolute rubbish. It did the job for about a day and then the adhesive just gave out - at the same time breaking right at the mount lock... I guess you get what you pay for.

No intrusion on the passenger footwell at all. The unit integrates so well in the interior that I couldn't be more pleased. Best part is that there is no holes or drilling or gluing; it is captured by the stereo faceplate and hooks around the back of the lower dashboard.

How much did you pay for that? I'm assuming they charged you separately for the mount and the swivel attachment designed for your phone?

$100 all-in for both pieces, and good news is that is not a permanent screw-in or stick-on affair.

Looks almost small enough to do what I did. Custom pod, removed the ashtray.

I think it looks great but damn man, I have to think that, for me, I wouldn't want to be looking down into the passenger foot well for directions when I'm trying to navigate roads I don't know.

As long as it works for you, but that's something to think about for anyone else considering thus mount. Personally I like my navigation unit as close to "line of sight" as possible.

+1 on that ^. Here's one that mounts on your upper vent, quite a bit cheaper too.

Actually, the screen is at the same height as the radio controls and you can tilt the screen towards you and upwards. It's far, far better than you would think. Not at all in the footwell. Requires no more than a glance to capture info; plus, you have the audio feeding information to you as a primary source.

Never seen the vent clip before; great idea, but I was looking for something that looked finished yet was not a permanent mount. It delivered on all fronts.

I think that having the unit in your line of sight is far more dangerous. It's the primary reason I wanted something different.

Of course, just my opinion.

Get the suction cup one. The vent one is terrible and doesn't fit right
