Got my DVD player installed.
I got fitted a couple of days ago a DVD player for my 8. Basically the DVD navigation unit was pulled out and a single DIN dvd/mp3/wma/jpeg/mpeg/vcd player was installed.
A small converter behind the unit was used to connect the car's TFT monitor to accept video signals and connect to the car's audio. The satnav was totally useless here in Cyprus cause its was designed for Japan only and was in Japanese! Plus we don't have navigation here.
This particular DVD player also has A/V inputs so you easily hook up a tuner or video camera, xbox etc.
The whole thing including the fitting cast about 350 us$.

It was connected to the speakers through the TV option that my satnav had. So when I cycle through the audio options: CD, FM1, FM2, AM, MD there is a final option TV which turns on the monitor and you can hear the sound through the speakers like the CD and radio.

This mod can only be done by replacing the factory satnav. So I guess it is usefull for people who buy Jap imports with the Jap satnav that is totaly useless outside Japan.

Looks really clean. Obviously you took out the old dvd/nav box out? Very nice though. Also, I keep meaning to ask people... is your clutch pedal on the left or ride side? That may sound stupid, but I have never seen or been told about it. Also, is your first gear closer to you or your passenger seat?

Glyphon is right, the pedals are the same as the LHD cars, ie clutch left foot, brake and gas right foot and 1st gear left and up.
Unfortunatly I dont have a pic of the connections. I took the car in to the electrician in the morning and picked it up 3 hours later with a dvd player installed. Im preety sure my car had a factory TV tuner istalled cause I select the DVD from the steering wheel mode button and it says TV on the radio's display, see pic 3 above.

Stuck in a love triangle
So the navigation system doesn't work in your country? You just took out the entire nav system and replaced it with the dvd unit and it worked that easily? Or do you still have the nav unit somewhere in your car?

Nick,
When I spent two months in Greece (Athens, Ios, Corfu and Andros) all the cars were right hand drive. That being said how is that your cars are left hand drive. Also If I were to take my rental car from Athens could I place it on say a minoan or hellas ferries and be able drive it there?
