Golf clubs in the trunk

Hi all,

So this is kind of a ridiculous question, but can you fit a regular sized golf club bag in the trunk of an RX8? There's got to be some golfers out there amongst RX8 owners.

If I could test this out for myself, I would but I'm in Afghanistan right now. I'm just a lurking member and trying to get as much info on 8's as possible before I make a purchase.

Thank you for any and all replies.

Regards,
Joel

Yes you can. Full size bag. Just makes it with a long driver shaft. I also squeeze in my collapsible pull cart further back in the trunk. No room for spare tire tho' with both items of gear (but can with bag only).

We appreciate your Service! Spent some inter-service time working with the good folks at the Sig Center myself.

Yep

Well, I have a carry bag and I can squeeze in the whole bag by fiddling around with the driver cover. I didn't think there was enough room for a pull cart but I carry
FYI: I have a 45.5 inch shaft for my driver.

Yes, but probably not with a Rodney Dangerfield(Caddyshack) type mongo bag!
Mine regular bag will fit with just some gentle persuasion. I have the MS rear strut bar in there as well......and it still fits. You won't get two in there though!

The trunk will hold two carry bags with room for a carry-on suitcase up on the shelf toward the front. Done it many times. Trick is do not overstuff the golf bag pockets, remove the long Drivers first. Put any additional stuff in first on the front shelf. Then put the first bag in bottom first and push it as far forward (to front of the car). Put the second bag in with its bottom in the opposite direction as the first, it will rest on top of the first and pull it toward the rear of the car. Then put the drivers in on top. Close the trunk lid carefully (I don't want to be responsible for snapped off clubheads!)

Hey everyone,

Thanks for the replies. I knew there had to be some golfers in the RX8 world. Trying to figure out which car to get for myself when I get back to the States. Of course, it's gotta fit a regular sized golf bag (two would be nice). I was looking to get one of those Rodney Dangerfield bags...but I guess I'd rather get an RX8.

Huey52 - thank you for the appreciation.

best regards everyone,

I think most cars actually design their trunks to fit a full size set of clubs. Its some kind of standard size. I was definitely skeptical on them fitting until I wanted to hit links and they fit perfectly!

One bag fits with spare tire kit. Two bags will fit otherwise. If you want aftermarket stereo components in the trunk then you will need to implement accordingly and remove the the spare tire kit.

I use the trunk well for a few boxes of golf *****, golf shoes and other misc. golf stuff I take to the course. I lined the well with an extra rx8 car mat to protect the carpet.

Had been using my Jeep Patriot for golf days of late but threw my cart and bag in my '8 last night for an upcoming tourney. They actually fit more easily in th '8!

Guess this should be an entry in "the little things" thread!!

I keep a medium sized bag in my trunk all the time w/o a problem although i do pull my driver out of the bag. It can get in with it but it's a little too tight to be comfortable for me. As noted two small bags will work w/o the tire or one very big bag w/o the tire.

But don't forget you have back seats. When I take someone with me golfing his clubs go in my back seat. Plenty of room back there and you aren't likely traveling with 2 sets on a regular basis.

The RX-8 trunk was designed specifically with the requirement that it must fit 2 golf bags. So it's not as ridiculous as you think.
