gear shift leather problem, please help

just traded 04 sports pkg MT for an 04 GT MT.

first thing we noticed is that the leather boot around the shift **** is a lot different than our other 8. it's all bunched up around the top of the stick right under the **** and feels a lot different because of this....

Is there a trick to getting the boot to "lie down" more in the hold than bunching up around the stick and getting it to stay there?

It sounds like the insulation is bunched up under the boot. I'd bring it back to where you purchased it from and have them take a look at it... unless that's a pain, you can remove the center console and take care of it yourself.

No, not really.... you'll have to remove the **** anyways. I ran into this problem when I was in a rush to get my color coordinated lighted shift **** on. Noticed I had resistance when shifting through the gates and then realized that something under the boot was getting in the way. Took off the center console and made sure the insulation was PROPERLY positioned before I lowered the console/boot back down.

If you're looking for instructions on taking off the center console, check the D.I.Y. forum area and check out the short shifter or leather parking brake install threads.
Or as stated earlier, take it back to where you got it and MAKE them fix it.

Good Luck
