Gauge/Instrument cluster configuration?

Hi,

So I am in the middle of painting some interior pieces and having a good weekend. I need to remove the instrument cluster on the dash above the steering wheel (image attached) to get to my next piece that I want to paint.

Looking in the extended manual I have it states when re-assembling the instrument cluster to perform an "instrument cluster configuration" (image attached). So I look that one up in the manual and I am a little lost. I have attached a screen scrape of the page in the manual that reviews the steps to do the "instrument cluster configuration".

Question does this need to be done if I am not dis-assembling the actual gauges (I am only unplugging the two plugs)? If so what is a WDS and what is the DLC-2 in the image?

Attached is the part I am doing this for being the vent grill chrome rings (both sides).

Sort of throws a wrench in in for today.

Take care,

Brian

Well I kept centering on the word "replacement" when reading the caution note for my question above. I threw caution to the wind and it was not an issue .

Take care,

Brian

Yes, that's just for a new one - I've had the cluster in and out many times....
