Front door speaker depth (bose system)
 

I'm working on building a 2 way component set using an 8" woofer. I just wanted to know if anyone knows what the speaker depth of the front door speakers was. I need to know this so I can choose a speaker and start designing a crossover network for it. I have taken the door apart already to see why the driver side woofer keeps cutting in and out and came to the conclusion that the amp in that door was bad. So if i'm going into the door again I'm ripping everything out and redoing the entire speaker set, so I'm just trying to avoid going back in there.

No regular 8" is going to fit in there. And most shallow mount sub designs are not available in the 8" size. I believe Kicker makes one (compVT line). Might have to build in a 1/2" thick mounting ring.

Second, are you looking to put a sub there? Or just a woofer? Most subwoofers are not designed to play anything above about ~300Hz. So please don't think you're just going to add a tweeter to an 8" and be good to go.

Umm yes sir! Actually there are quite a few woofers that can go above 300hz, I'm pretty experienced at building 2 way systems. Hence the reason I'm building the crossover network. Building a speaker setup to accomplish what I'm trying to do isn't a problem, figuring out what can fit without taking my car apart is, though.

Btw I have found quite a few 8" speakers that are 3.5" in depth or less...

Actually I said "sub" and "subwoofer". That is exactly why I asked you to specify if you were using an 8" subwoofer or 8" woofer. People often use the terms interchangeably. So I stand by my statement.
