Fog light keeps burning out
Fog light keeps burning out
My driver side fog bulb has burnt out 2 bulbs in a very short amount of time. This seemed more like an electronic issue. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a short?
Thanks in advance for advice!

Not sure about the warranty thing, it's worth a shot if it is still under.
If not, pay attention to when you install the bulbs. It's very easy to misalign those small tabs when turning them. It may even feel like you have "locked" it into place, but you may have cross threaded those tabs, even though they are all different sizes. Just look carefully at the base of the bulb and those mounting cut outs and you will see what I mean.
I have been through more fog lights than I care to remember, but recently put in some Hoen Xenon match bulbs and they holding up well. Also, I use my fogs as daytime running lights, so maybe this is just a necessary evil for more visibility.
And, avoid autoillumination products, they seem to burn out very quickly!

I put on aftermarket parts. So, no.. It just started happening recently. The bad thing is I'm using 7000k bulbs to kinda match my the HID's, so the aren't cheap.
I will check the bulb alignment.....but I burnt my last one out in 2 months and now this one took 1 day.
What wattage is best....I know 55w is stock but they are weak!

I have had very good luck with these.

Also, one time when I was swapping out some bulbs, some moisture was all inside the actual fog light housing, which obvously caused it to burn out.
I went and got my lovely wife's blow dryer and proceded to dry out those housings as well as I could before installing the Hoens. Just a thought...good luck.
