Dynamat extreme can't not be removed- just something to think about.
I used about 100 sq feet to do the entire car.
You can only dynamat metal- locate the rattle from the pass through and work from there.

dynamat extreme == TOO EXPENSIVE.
http://www.raamaudio.com/ <-- RAAMmat BXT, best bang for the buck, IMO. it's one of the easiest to install (sticks really well, don't really need a roller, don't need a heatgun). plus the guy that sells it (Rick) is SUPER helpful.
Don't get Fatmat! Too many problems with it.
Also decent is eDead V1.SE, but it may not stick as well.
Second Skin Damplifier is another great product, http://www.secondskinaudio.com/cgi-b....cgi?pg=1&p=pr but it's slightly harder to install than RAAMmat BXT, but I think it has better temperature resistance (if you're in hot as hell somewhere, may survive longer than BXT). i also recommend Damplifier.
I've personally used RAAMmat BXT and it was easy to apply and great. my roommate did the rear deck of his STI with it and it worked great. i did the doors with it and it was nice, but I haven't done the trunk yet.
As far as deadening the trunk on the RX-8, I am not sure.. maybe 10 sq ft is enough? Dunno. I would also be interested in hearing about the strategies for deadening the RX-8 trunk.

That stuff works by dampening, i.e. being heavy!
The average "mat" material is around 1/2lb per square foot!
...but I guess if your aim is to put 12" speakers in the trunk, what's another 50lbs?

rick also recommends the adhesive that he sells (below the ensolite on that page), as he says it bonds the best and is the safest for automotive use (of the ones he found).
i say you can try with 2 yards of ensolite & 1 can of adhesive and see if you need more. i was splitting mine w/ my roommate, so i ordered enough for my rx-8 and his sti.
the adhesive is for the ensolite to bond to thebxt or the bxt to bond to the car? also can you give me their email? i know its on the site but when i click it my netscape brings up this whole thing to log in and i cant view what their email was... thanks a lot astral for all your help!

I couldn't belive the difference it made. It helped to stop the whole car from rattling!
