Can someone point me to a DIY, or anywhere where I might be able to improve the door tweeters (the ones opposite the side mirrors)?

IMO, it is sorely lacking in direction. If I cup my hand and direct the sound to me, and not to the center of my dash, the improvement is astounding.

I guess what I am looking for is some way to make that permanent. Whether through an aftermarket tweeter, or just a simple mod (if it is simple) to direct it more towards me.

You can do a search for NX30 tweeters. There are lots of folks on the forum who have gone this route and are pleased, including myself.

I searched and found some pretty useful info regarding my post. I think I will go with some aftermarket tweeters and mod them similarly as others have.
