Door panel off, how to get suck pins out?

Just as the title asks, I have my door panel off and a few of the holding pins were stuck in the door. How can I get them out so I can get the door panel back on. Is there some kind of tool that I can use? I've been looking around my garage for something to yank em out with, but can't find anything. I got one out using the door panel, long support section where a pin should fit, but the rest I can't get to. Do I just leave them in there and spend hours trying to get them all lined up, can't see how that is possible as they all go different directions.

I had that problem when I took my panel off last fall to see if I could correct a door ding...

I used my fingers to pull some of the stuck pins out. Careful, though, I ended up slicing one of my fingers open on the sharp edges. Not good

You might also try a flat-bladed screwdriver (wrap a cloth around it if you need to protect the finish of any areas of contact... or try a chisel to carefully pry the sucker outa there.

My 2 cents...

As jdaled said, a flat-bladed screwdriver will work. I used that when I had the same problem, and by carefully prying them, they all got out without damage and I could reuse them just fine.

Actually, dealers have a tool that helps removing these if I'm not mistaken. The service manual mentions something like a 'panel (or trim) removal tool'.

Tamas,

I think the trim tool is simply a stong piece of plastic that serves as the "taped end screwdriver" used in starting the removal of trim pieces.

Nufan,

I beleive the "experts" have a fork like tool that removes the plugs left in the door. I was going to check into it in more detail if I had to remove my trim pieces again.

I could almost use the wall mount for my phone. The screw hole just isn't wide enough for the top of the pin to go in. I was so happy when I thought of that, just didn't work Maybe I can find something with a wider area for the screwhead.

I started with a screwdriver. I'm just afraid I'm going to bend it out of usefulness. I'll try again once I get home.

You can pick up the tool that removes them. I would check with a local car audio shop and see if they can point you in the right direction or maybe radio shack has it. But it is a nice tool to have.

If it's not insanly expensive like some tools, I'll check radioshack on my way home.

Thanks for the help guys, I'll have them off one way or another tonight.

That doesn't look like something Radio Shack will cary. I'll try a car audio shop.

Hey 93rd: thanks for the nice link. I've got the Snap-On 4-piece kit, and you can bet it cost more than 38 bux. But then, I'm a tool junkie as well...

Guys: you can frequently find the correct tool at the bigger autoparts stores, without having to resort to mail order or multi-tool sets.

Hmmmm, maybe a 2-pronged grilling fork from a barbecue set? or something like that.
