Door Panel Mounting Question

I have found a cool little rotating and tilting arm that I would like to mount on my door panel so that I can then mount my treo 650 on it .. To mount it I would use a combination of a single screw and adhesive .. The mounting plate is a circle with a 1 inch diameter .. I would like to mount it roughly an inch infront of the door handle .. however I know the light that shines on the window controls is in that general area.... Any tips? Suggestions? On how to mount this bracket there?

I would remove the panel to see what is back there in that location. Just to make sure it is solid where you put it and doesn't interfere with any wiring. I would use a combo of 3M adhesive tape and small nut and bolt with washer and lock-washer.
