direct replacements for the 9 inch blose or use an 8 in its place?

anyone out there find an exact 9 inch replacement speaker for that terd that makes noise in our doors? ive searched online and i cant seem to come up with anything..either that or has anyone out there put an 8 inch free air sub in its place? if so how does it sound? what did you do to keep things from rattling? dynomat? etc.. currently im using alpine type s 6.5 inch components and im not overly impressed with them..they are just ok. i want something better for me and my rx8.i think we deserve a quality door speaker even though mazda thinks otherwise apparently

If your using the stock amp in the fronts there is no replacements as no one makes .5 impedance, using the wrong Imp will sound like crap. If your using an aftermarket amp then 6.5 or shallow mount 8.

im using a boston acoustics gt 4100 for my mids and highs and i have a gt 2300 for my subs..all the stock crap is long gone.like i said i installed alpine components in the doors and im just not real happy with them.i made some baffles out of plastic to make the 6.5 work but i wanted to get a bigger speaker to make use of the 9 inch hole that is there. currently i have the aforementioned amps, alpine type s 6.5 components, boston acoustics 6.5 components [one pair in the doors, the other i mounted between the rear seats which looks killer] infinty referance 6x9,a pair of boston 4 inch coaxials [one in the center channel spot, the other i mounted in the center of the rear deck and made a flush mount grille which is barely noticeable cause i didnt want it to be,and for the subs im using 3 boston 8 inch g1 which im def changing.i used 8s to keep the weight down but after further research it seems that tens dont have that much of a bigger magnet on them.im getting 2 solo baric l7 10s this week.but i still like the mid bass that the 8s offer with the style of music i like so i wanted to fit something in my doors..the reason for this thread. i found a set of 8 inch focal coaxials on ebay last night for about $250 that would work with an infinite baffle so i may get those.my system is nice as is but it could always be better.never satisfied and i always like having a nice car project.especially around this time of year when the weather is poop

An 8" is probably easier but you might need to fab a bracket. The hole is 8.4"

ya..like i said i made a baffle for the 6.5s which are installed now..all i gotta do is cut the hole a little bigger..should work well.those focal 8s look pretty sweet and they arent terribly expensive like alot of their stuff is.the only thing that would suck is i would have to do something about my crossovers that i have installed for the alpine components.the focals are coaxial and im not going to eliminate the alpine tweeters i have in the sail pods.if i would keep both it may screw up my impedance by wiring the focals and the tweeters together but obviously not wire the focals to the alpine crossovers which would have to stay unless i got inline low pass filters i guess..could be a topic for another thread maybe.lol btw,im digging the color combo you have going with the gold wheels and the red body.looks sweet man.i tried to add a pic to my signature but apparently i cant figure it out :/ one of these days i will.mine is pearl white and i have gun metal grey wheels.thinking about powder coating them another color.might do gold as well

Thanks, I think the only you have to take in account for is depth with the window down. It would work out but I don't think a shallow 8 is going to offer much over a well designs 6.5 so imho that what I would take into consideration. I've been thinking about putting an 8 as well and went over many times and just couldnt justify it. GL.
