That's odd. Your AuxMod has a male out mini port? I wonder why. It should have been a female port like everyone elses is. Ah well. Nothing a male to female won't fix.

A hard to find, difficult to source, extremely long lead time reseller for the manufacturer. This is a build to order part, so it's very painful to order.

I can't say more then that.. ;0

Crutchfield now has these mini-jack GLIs in stock. I just ordered one and will post my experiences.

Well, good news and bad news. It arrived today. I plugged it in. It worked flawlessly and there was almost no noise whatsoever. I used it for about 20 minutes, then I noticed the left channel was much louder than the right. When I checked, the right channel was dead.

Fortuneately, I confirmed that the issue is with the filter, and not the iPod or the car.

This unit is very cheaply made, the connections are not very tight, so I thought with a bit of jiggling, it would get better. It hasn't. It's going back. I expect the replacement next week sometime. I'll keep the group posted.

Waiting is something that no one wants to do, but often yeilds great rewards.

Overload,

With the advanced will I be able to have both my iPod and Sirius hooked up? I'm guessing it transfers the audio with the data interface cable and not the regular miniplug cable. If so how would I be able to switch from 1 to the other? I know I'm assuming a lot, any info would be appreciated

We're not using an audio MUX, however there are two inputs, 1 for the iPOD, and another standard mini plug. Technically, you should remove one of the devices connections to use the other.

I know it's not really convenient, but it's better then opening the dash!

Best regards,

What exactly does this have to do with the RX-8 (or the AuxMod, for that matter)???

Ok, Monthly update, here we go:

The software for AuxMod Basic is all fixed up. We've just confirmed today that the newest rev has conclusively resolved any remaining glitches with newer and older models (like the 2001 1/2 Protege) that had some unusual behaviour, but now everything is groovy!

AuxMod Advanced is on track for a small roll out next month. We don't have a lot of parts to build a lot of modules, but its better for us to prove out the software this way at least. I know that we won't be able to get to a lot of people who have been waiting for a really, really, really long time, but we will have more later, and it will be worth it!

Thanks to everyone for their support and great attitudes towards this project. It has made it really enjoyable. We're not long away from the release.

Regards,

OverLOAD

So, can the existing (sold) AuxMod Basic units be updated somehow with this software?

I would absolutely love to have this option on my new RX 8 and have been just killing myself on how to do it as all I have found so far is a) the dealers audio place who is telling me that I would still have to use the FM modulation for 129.00 just to mount my existing unit. Although I have a Starmate which is a little larger it does have the audio in/out options and I just hate the FM modulator in the LA area especially. I would love to see this run directly to the computer from the steering wheel as I under this way you would simply cycle through Mode to get to the Sirius. That would be awesome although I am still strugling on how to mount the unit itself so I can see it clearly. I have see a couple of ideas that look OK but I would by a smaller unit and mount to the ashtray if you had this audio connection. I to am a computer person and have been in the industry for over 25 years and would love if you could share with me some additional information about what is actually in the RX-8 computer wise and what options and or platforms connections that it will support or maybe even help you out, as I have a wide base of knowledge availble to me on the computer tech side. You have my full support and $50.00 would be a steal for this option through the computer. Thanks, RaffyRX8
