Creating the ultimate RX-8 Trunk System

Well after 2 solid weeks of working on this around the clock I think the trunk is finally done. I was trying to get it finished in time for Hot Import Nights in Atlantic City but I didn't make it there. Here is my creation for the ultimate show trunk for the Mazda RX-8. Many great thanks to Thew (Matt) and especially Chris DeSanto from DreamToyz he is the one who made my vision come true with me! For those interested in what the components are, they are all Rockford Fosgate, with custom vinyl over the speaker center. Enjoy! I know I am!

Nice set up, I think that's the best one I've seen so far for the 8.

Yes, the rotaries are functional speaker ports that also have Red LEDs in to light up the ports. Thanks for the compliments. I wanted to create something truly unique and use the rotary theme obviously.

No trunk is no problem as I am essentially trying to create a show car. The 8 is just a pet project of mine. I know I will get flamed like mad for this one, but the lambo door kit is getting installed tomorrow. I will post pics after it is done. Still waiting for the Mazdaspeed front bumper as I already have the side skirts installed.

The onboard computer is the trickest component of the car, it utilizes a 7in touchscreen that allows me to:

1) Play DVDs
2) Play MP3s
3) Clear CELs and run diagnostics (always connected through obdII connector)
4) Do dyno runs utilizing the vehicles onboard sensors
5) Upload maps to my Canzoomer Stage 2 Kit on the fly

I cant wait for FI. Definitely on the board to get done!

What system are you running or components to have all of these options available to you from the dash? Also, the rotary ports, where did you get those from, they are the ones from the seats, right? But, where did you buy extra ones and how much were they? Thanks

...i'm curious to know what you'll do about the rear doors. because of the design of the handle for them, doing a mild lambo-type swing out would be really really cool, to match the front of course. the best show cars always have that little something extra, put those rear doors to good use!! ...i think it would be pretty tricky, but very doable. i just dunno how it'd look (better or worse, i mean)!!

As far as the Rotaries from the seats, you can buy them from Thew (Matt) just PM him for a price.

As far as the Lambo door conversion, I am just doing the fronts for now as I purchased a bolt on kit designed specifically for the RX-8. This way if I hate them I can go back to stock without holes drilled into my car.

That looks kick @$$. I have a diamond TDX in the back and i was planning on doing a custom install like that one. I need trunk space though because i don't have another car so mine will be hard. Looks great though. How does it sound?

I agree...if you're going to go with the Lambo doors, do the fronts and the backs!

But what do I know...the only upgrage I've done to my RX-8 is two red CD holders from Ikea.

The system sounds incredible. The porting makes a huge difference with sub enclosures. We had to turn the gains all the way down because it the base was to overpowering. I have set to a nice level where the system sounds good across the range. When I really want it to kick I just turn up the Bass volume and you can get it to the point where your eyeballs shake. It is unreal.

Have you seen Hymee's new software yet? This would be a cool addition to your car: https://www.rx8club.com/showthread.p...3&page=1&pp=15

Well the lambo doors were a bust. They fit fine, but my old body does not want to get in out of the car that way. Even as a show car, I am too lazy, as I would still ike to drive the car in summer on weekends. Bolt on Lambo door kit for sale PM me for details!

Did you happen to have any pictures of your 8 with the lambo doors installed, I just wanted to see how they look on the 8. Thanks
