console Nav pod as storage

OK this is a crazy idea, but here goes. I'm interested in swapping out the console above my stereo with an empty Nav console unit, to convert that spot into a storage cubby.

Anybody tried this before? Thoughts?

Thanks!

If I understand you correctly..., you're going to sacrifice your heating / AC
ducts to use as storage space? ...or are you talking about using the area
where the factory NAV goes?
There is an insert we can buy that can be placed in this spot. I'm too lazy to
search for it. Perhaps someone else will give you a link or you may want to
run a search yourself. Good Luck and give us an update or a DIY if you come
up with something new.

Thanks Eyeball,

I basically want to have the stock Nav system console part but without the Nav - it's early and I wrote DVD instead of Nav. Oops.

So, I want to use the shell of the Nav system as a cubby.
