has anyone changed the color of their amber interior lights? i found a great how to on a mazda6 forum... i just wanna know if someone has done this to an 8 before i try and do it myself.

Go search interior leds/leds. A ton of people have done it, including me.

 

i have done numerous searches, and i find everyone changing out the bulbs to whatever color, that's easy. what i can't find is where someone changed the color illuminated from the radio, a/c controls and led display. maybe i havn't typed the right keywords into the search... but i have been searching... and not just any ole dumb newb

 

thats also what id like to know. im not a big fan of the red display lighting id like to change it to blue or green in my silver 8.

 

Theres a thread somewhere on this site about it, but no one has actually done it. Apparently it would involve pulling out a circuitboard behind the faceplate and soldering leds onto it.

 

i'd do it if i had the money to buy a spare faceplate w/ the CB... i have all the equipment to solder components for microelectronics, that's not the problem... i already took my HU apart and looked at what would be involved... i just havn't had time to look for a used faceplate or the money to invest in getting one to try it on... if i had the board i could get the LEDs ordered and do all the work in less than a day.. and write up a DIY(although i doubt many would want to do it themself)... just my 2c's

if anyone wants to donate or part with one for the purpose of this i'll gladly return the board if it works (no guarantees)...

Do you have any pics of the display panel in pieces? I think we can find away to do it but I have never seen what the innards look like.
