Also rotate the **** as you pull so your not just working one side of it up the shaft.
Mine pulled straight out no need to remove the faceplate.
It was on there very securely though. I don't see a benefit to rotating the **** while pulling it off. I think it is better for the head unit to pull straight out.
I replaced with the Petite Racing Radio ****.

:p!yes I concur...it appears they put a bit of adhesive on the ****...very very light that you just need to loosen...don't bend left and right you may never have a straight **** again...and the girls won't like that

as for the ****...I'm painting base part that is the non-rotor non-rx-8 sticker center, black...it should accentuate the rotor and reduce the ***** over abundance of bling bling
btw anyone have access to more of those stickers in the middle mine is not on perfectly straight
does anyone know if the mazda6 ***** that have the + and - lit ***** for a/c and heat etc....fit on the rx8 *****...i was reall jealous to see my freinds 6 lit up all nice and my shitty ***** dont light up or have the illumination under or spaces for it.....also another big question are the lights in automatics suppose to light up or do they just expect you to look at the speed cluster to see if your in the right gear???
i'm in a good mood today
so let me post the link for you

Bump.
I've pulled and pulled and the factory **** is ON THERE. I even warmed it with a blow dryer until it was almost too hot to touch, didn't help.
I'd sure like to install my rotor radio ****, but if I pull that thing any harder, I'm worried about damaging the switch.
Any new ideas in the last 4 years?

One side of the shaft is flat so therefore twisting won't help and when I replace the LEDs for blue ones the **** was extremely hard to get off prying won't work because the **** is deep on the sides It just takes some grip and well to pull straight out it's difficult to do and hopefully the thing it's attached to doesn't come out with it since it's attached to the board
I've pulled the **** as hard as I can without actually putting a pair of Vise-grips to it. Won't budge a millimeter. I even snaked some steel wire under it and pulled the ends with pliers. Again, it won't move.
At this point I'm considering taking a Dremel to it. If I cut away the outer portion of the ****, I'll have easier access to the hub.

In keeping with my policy of holding-onto upgraded stock parts, anybody want to sell me their stock radio ****, for when I've dremeled the old one off?
I think it might be a good idea to keep the shop vac going, right next to the **** as I grind it away, to keep the plastic swarf from getting into the Bose.
