Did you get a chance to scan the instruction yet. Does it say how to fit just a single DIN radio in there.

edit: Link them to the Corksport New Stereo Kit thread... it's a much better representation of the interest there is on this board...

One thing I like about the AVIC-D3 is the LED color config to match our interior. Does anyone else know other double-din with this feature?

Well, the time has come. Corksport finally released the working version of the dash kit for our cars. Today at about noon, I received my kit. I was like a small child on christmas day, tearing into the package. I ordered the kit in Piano black, without the steering wheel controls, and without the Bose adapter (even though i use to have bose, the non bose adapter works fine) Here is a picture of what is included:

If you have been reading the other thread, you guys know I was running late to work today and wasnt able to take pics. I have the unit installed, but the car isnt back together yet. So far I am extremely pleased with the product that Corksport has produced.

*The A/C and Heater both work flawlessly
*The Piano black finish is a perfect match to factory
*You do retain all the A/C functions on the LED screen, but you do loose the clock (no biggie, the nav unit is easily read)
*The installation instructions are extremely easy to follow.

It is now 1:47Est. I am planning to be up and going at 9am to finish the install. At that time, I will post more pics of the final product, allong with scans of the instructions.

Hope the pics I did post will hold you guys off for a couple hours haha

I still have Bose. and probably not gonna change it until next year (yeah I know it sucks)

so do I need the bose adapter ?

I suppose it is called the "Bose adapter" for a reason... ;)
So the short answer is probably yes.

Well, bad news.. When I installed my kit, it was 90+ outside... what I thought was heat was only air from outside :( I checked all my connections and everything is good. I talked with Derick from corksport about this issue. After some troubleshooting and some research on his end, he found out that that the manufacturer left out one 2-3in adapter that is needed for the heat... They are aware of the issue and are going to get them out asap... Not a big deal for me right now, being that we are just starting summer... Just thought i would give you guys the semi-bad news....

nycgps 05-07-2007 09:36 PM

Hmm ... does that mean theres no heat coming out ?

Well, at least they know what goes wrong ..... when they gonna have the 2-3 pin adapter back to you ?

rx8guy86 05-07-2007 10:13 PM

Yeah, no heat.. just room temp air.... They will have to get the parts from japan then from WA to the rest of us... I will keep you guys updated...

TheBri 05-08-2007 01:25 AM

Derrick phoned me this afternoon to inquire about mine. Same thing - just outside temperature air coming when it's on "heat". The air conditioning works and that's all that matters right now. :)

When I spoke with him yesterday there was a very real sense of urgency about this. They want to fix this NOW. Personally I don't care about the heating system at the moment since it's getting hotter around here. As long as it's ready by next fall I'm good with it. :)

rastaman 05-08-2007 11:38 AM

I just ordered mine, and I don't care about the heat issue till october so i'm fine with that. Sorry to hijack this thread, but your avatar rocks, I love GIR they need to bring back invader zim.

djkrazy 05-08-2007 12:10 PM

I placed my order today .... i guess that the heat doesnt matter right now as long as they fix it later and all .....

for the people that did it so far ... which i dont think that that many so far .... i never really installed a stereo in a car and all before .... is it hard to install that stuff ?

I should have checked the forum first, I just had the same conversation with corksport. :banghead:

Everything is working fine for me except for the temperature dial.

This is quite possibly one of the easiest installs I've ever done. It's dirt simple to take the dash apart without breaking anything and replacing the factory HU with your aftermarket one is simple and straight forward. There are a lot of wires but the diagram that explains what they all do is easy to follow. Mercifully the colors are fairly standard and you may find that the wires on your aftermarket HU match up with the supplied wiring harness (mine did almost wire-for-wire).

The only two difficult bits are the famous 10mm bolt that's on the side of the radio holding it in place - it's a bastard to get out and even more difficult to get back in. You'll need a flashlight to see what you're doing and a socket with a ~6" extension. There are ample pictures on this very forum about where this thing is located and I personally found them extremely helpful the first time I removed my factory HU. FYI - I didn't bother putting the 10mm bolt in after installing the aftermarket HU.

The other difficult bit is just getting all the wires to fit. Your milage may vary on this one depending on your HU of choice.
