AVIC-D3 install with Corksport RX-8 Kit

Well, the time has come. Corksport finally released the working version of the dash kit for our cars. Today at about noon, I received my kit. I was like a small child on christmas day, tearing into the package. I ordered the kit in Piano black, without the steering wheel controls, and without the Bose adapter (even though i use to have bose, the non bose adapter works fine) Here is a picture of what is included:

If you have been reading the other thread, you guys know I was running late to work today and wasnt able to take pics. I have the unit installed, but the car isnt back together yet. So far I am extremely pleased with the product that Corksport has produced.

*The A/C and Heater both work flawlessly
*The Piano black finish is a perfect match to factory
*You do retain all the A/C functions on the LED screen, but you do loose the clock (no biggie, the nav unit is easily read)
*The installation instructions are extremely easy to follow.

It is now 1:47Est. I am planning to be up and going at 9am to finish the install. At that time, I will post more pics of the final product, allong with scans of the instructions.

Hope the pics I did post will hold you guys off for a couple hours haha

Yes sir, you are correct.

I just woke up... I am headed out to finish the car!

portero23 05-02-2007 09:43 AM

And to think getting rid of our stock HU only took four years!

The Kit or the nav unit?

Kit is from Corksport.com

Nav unit is from a reseller here in knoxville.

Pretty much. In order to get it out you have to take out the coin/ cig lighter. To take out the cig lighert you have to take out the shifter area... If somebody is going to steal it.. They will have to know how an 8 is put together.

You're underestimating thieves. All they need is a crowbar, they don't care if they leave your dash in more than one piece. :(

chickenwafer 05-02-2007 12:22 PM

hmm, I can't see any pics. Crap!

Thanks for letting us know the Corksport kit works, tho. I wish I had the dough for it now

MyRXdrug 05-02-2007 12:40 PM

That looks like the AVIC-D3?
Did you have to order an accessory part for the vehicle dynamics?

Can't wait till this is finished!!!!!

It is the AVIC-D3. As for the vehicle dynamics.... it comes with the unit.. I had to purchase the bluetooth kit, and the Ipod cable.

djkrazy 05-02-2007 12:47 PM

damn i want to get now knowing that it works

portero23 05-02-2007 01:03 PM

rx8guy86, do you want to set up a group buy with corksport since you have an ongoing relationship with Corksport? If so, put me down as #1 on the list... If not I can try to set one up. Who do I contact?

you need to contact Omicron, he's the GB admin. But he's never (and I mean NEVER) on. I sent him an email back in January that is yet to be answered.

snipaz2420 05-02-2007 03:11 PM

rx8guy do the controls on the steering wheel work with the new unit you installed????

BOOSTD 7 05-02-2007 03:46 PM

I'm actually the final guy to talk to about setting up Group Buys. I'm emailing CorkSport right now with a link to this, going to ask them to get a GB going here :)
