AVIC-D3 install with Corksport RX-8 Kit
 

Well, the time has come. Corksport finally released the working version of the dash kit for our cars. Today at about noon, I received my kit. I was like a small child on christmas day, tearing into the package. I ordered the kit in Piano black, without the steering wheel controls, and without the Bose adapter (even though i use to have bose, the non bose adapter works fine) Here is a picture of what is included:

If you have been reading the other thread, you guys know I was running late to work today and wasnt able to take pics. I have the unit installed, but the car isnt back together yet. So far I am extremely pleased with the product that Corksport has produced.

*The A/C and Heater both work flawlessly
*The Piano black finish is a perfect match to factory
*You do retain all the A/C functions on the LED screen, but you do loose the clock (no biggie, the nav unit is easily read)
*The installation instructions are extremely easy to follow.

It is now 1:47Est. I am planning to be up and going at 9am to finish the install. At that time, I will post more pics of the final product, allong with scans of the instructions.

Hope the pics I did post will hold you guys off for a couple hours haha

Yes sir, you are correct.

I just woke up... I am headed out to finish the car!

And to think getting rid of our stock HU only took four years!

If I have the OEM Nav will it still function? I would like to do something similiar if possible.

Pretty much. In order to get it out you have to take out the coin/ cig lighter. To take out the cig lighert you have to take out the shifter area... If somebody is going to steal it.. They will have to know how an 8 is put together.

Did you have to order an accessory part for the vehicle dynamics?

It is the AVIC-D3. As for the vehicle dynamics.... it comes with the unit.. I had to purchase the bluetooth kit, and the Ipod cable.

rx8guy86, do you want to set up a group buy with corksport since you have an ongoing relationship with Corksport? If so, put me down as #1 on the list... If not I can try to set one up. Who do I contact?

you need to contact Omicron, he's the GB admin. But he's never (and I mean NEVER) on. I sent him an email back in January that is yet to be answered.

rx8guy do the controls on the steering wheel work with the new unit you installed????

I'm actually the final guy to talk to about setting up Group Buys. I'm emailing CorkSport right now with a link to this, going to ask them to get a GB going here :)
