AUX or Xcarlink questions

I need some help...

There are so many AUX options available to RX-8, What's everyone's opinion about AUX input?

I am mainly hooked on xCarlink as I like it to have bluetooth add on. But I can not get answers from previous thread at all. I will really appreciate if anyone can help me with those questions so I can order up.

1) Canadian website says it's 2004~2007 and 2008~2009. But US says 2004~2008 and 2009 by itself. I have a 2008 and I am in Canada. Which one should I choose?

2) For the Bluetooth module option, there's no need to splice the power cable at all, correct? Is there an empty connector at the back of the Head Unit for audiolink to be connected?

3) Also, it will not work with firmware 9.81 or 10.01. but will 9.82 work? It's only .01 different.

"NOTE: The factory headunit's firmware revision must be 9.55 or greater. The unit will not work on earlier firmware revisions or with 9.81 or 10.01. "

I have a 2008 RX-8 with the 9.82 firmware too. I'm going to contact the sellers, see if they have an answer. My guess is that yes, it will work with our head units.

uhhh I have a car2PC, which is similar to grom audio, basicially an aux jack. For it you just plug it in the back of the HU and away you go.

As for Canada year model, just follow the website.

No idea about bluetooth

What firmware version do you have for your head unit? Bose or regular? RX-8 year? When did you buy/install the XCarLink? BT version?

We're trying to figure out if the XCarLink will work with our headunits. ECSW seems to have the same HU as I do...

Thanks!

While pressing and holding the 'text' button press and hold the '1' button. That will show your firmware.

I am also interested in the xcarlink with bluetooth. When streaming music via bluetooth is the phone or music device controllable through the steering wheel controls?

I've contacted the company about where to get these in Australia and they've given me a contact number. If anyone in Aus wants it let me know.

I'm gonna install it tonight if I get the chance. I'm going to attempt the glove box install method, so I don't have to take it all apart. I was given these links by the reseller. I'll let you know how the BT goes once I try it.

The glovebox method worked. It was frustrating to do since i have large fingers, but I eventually got it. Better than taking the whole fuggin thing apart. The USB flash drive works fine, I connected my Samsung P2 BT MP3 player and the sound quality is acceptable. Haven't got it to work with my Samsung phone though, maybe because it's a POS. The XCarLink works with this firmware of the RX-8 HU and it works as noted. FYI, the fast forward button doesn't work with the BT, as it says it should. I have to press the BT button on the dongle. Not sure if i'll be using this too often with my phone... =(

oh, FYI, your DSC might get reset when you disconnect the battery. Check your manual to fix that.

I have the 9,82 firmware and Bose system. It looks like a flash card reader/2.5" external HD... nothing fancy. I have it in the glove compartment on top of my RX-8 manual. Nothing fancy.

From what you have said, the bluetooth isn't that great? I want it to be able to automatically connect to my phone when I turn on the car like a bluetooth handsfree would. Do you have to press the button on the bluetooth dongle to connect it with the phone every time?

It automatically connects with my samsung MP3 player once it is within range, and automatically switches to BT music instead of USB. I have not been able to link up my phone, so I can't tell you how that works. I'm assuming i'll need to press the BT button on the Xcarlink to pick up a call. Kind of a hassle... I should email them and ask them how to get the >> button to work with the BT.

So it's A2DP competiable for sure? Do you hear both speaker playing different channel or is it simply playing mono thru 2 speaker? I have a older parrot bluetooth that does that. mono sound to 2 speakers. There's newer parrot supports A2DP for sure, but it's kinda expensive....

I know some bluetooth device doesn't like multiple pair items. Once you paired your P2 onto it, it will not automatically pair with the next.

Did you try to pair just with phone and not P2. Then don't pair p2 with it once re-start your car to see if the pair will stay with your phone and work with >> button?
