Autodim Homelink Mirror Help

I'm looking at putting an auto-dimming homelink mirror in my RX8, but it only came with the standard one. Does anyone know if someone sells them as a kit ready to install with the wiring harness and all? I just dont want the hassle of shimming and modifying like you have to do with the Gentek one.

Thanks!

for what it is worth, i have the Gentek and i did not need to shim it. Not sure if they changed the design, but mine slid right on, and tightened nice and flush (has a Torx screw)

Gentex is the supplier/manufacturer of homelink mirrors for pretty much every OEM that I'm aware of. I've purchased and installed as an upgrade for several vehicles of mine in the past. If you're shimming and modifying something isn't right. I'd suggest researching what model number your OEM homelink mirror should be and then purchasing the correct one. All of mine have been pretty much plug and play.

Good luck.

I tell you what, I wish mine was just a regular mirror. The auto-dim feature sucks. Half the time it doesn't work. Or it switched back and forth from dim to bright even though its the same car behind me. Call me crazy but I think depending on the fluctuation of the distance of the car behind me, it gets confused with the lights getting blocked from my spoiler.

I am looking at getting an auto dimming rearview mirror for my Spirit-R. I had one in my Mazda 6 and loved it. Does anyone know if it is an easy to install option or if it involves pulling the interior to bits to install it? I am not sure of the mount to get. I have not been able to check them out at a dealer's, and will probably have to buy one off Amazon.
The other thing is, where do you get mat sets for RH drive RX-8 that don't cost a fortune like they do at the dealer?

You will need a constant power source, an ignition power source, and a ground. All can be found on the driver side kick panel fuse box. You will need to route the wires there, and really the only way that you can do that easily is to go down the A pillar. It pops out really easily though.
