yeah the FM transmitters basically all suck... its good to have on as a back-up, in case you go on a boat, to a friend's house for a party, in someone else's car, etc... but in general, the quality sucks, they drain battery life, and you can control them from the car's steering wheel....

i highly recommend the audiolink over any FM transmitter... its worth the money

 

Question. It says on the Neo site that you can use your Ipod to change songs, playlists etc. when you change songs using your steering wheel, does the Ipod reflect the appropriate song?

Wehn you say that you do not have the option of seeing your whole playlist, does that that mean on the Ipod as well?

I went with the AudioLink and really like it. That's what I'd recommend.

 

what i really liked about them is they had really good customer service. i was having trouble with mine they sent me a new one and i sent my broken one back in.

 

Apparently the Monster FM unit charges the iPod, so the battery drain thing is not a worry. That said...even if it means the iPod quality is as good as the radio, I don't think the radio on this car sounds all that great...certainly not as good as the CD player, or a good hard-wired iPod connection should be.

I was just browsing the forum and found this post. I ordered the audiolink adapter for $109 :-) Even paid with my paypal so I didn't have to drag my *** out of bed :-)

 

I ended up going with the Neo. Should be here next week.

 

I just bought the Audiolink adaptor and installed it this morning. It wasn't too bad to install but the instructions are lacking. I wish the cable between the box and the ipod was longer so I could run it back around to the hidden compartment by the lighter socket- I don't like it going into the cup holder.

The install took me about an hour. It was raining so I wasn't too keen on crawling under the dash to find the screw on the side of the stereo but it wasn't too bad.

When you take the console apart be sure to cover the shift rod with something soft. It's really easy to scratch your arm or your head unit face plate with it.

Being able to either use the Ipod controls or the stereo controls is really nice.

 

Yes I also just installed my Audiolink. The hard part was, as usual, finding the radio removal bolt. Luckily I had my own D-I-Y guide from my last RX-8. It works awesome and I'm very happy with it. But for the way I want to customize my car, I wish the cable was longer also, more specifically, I wish the portion between the splitter and the dock connector was longer. That way I could route it below the cup holders, cut a whole into the rear console device, and it could live in there, BUT driver or passengers could still pick it up and bring it, tethered, all the way to their seats to change the music (you know, if and only if I gave them permission ;-) ) Still I really like the device, and I'm really excited about the extra audio input it has, since I recently found a navigation unit that also has a bluetooth handsfree phone kit built in! - and a standard headphone style audio out port that the audiolink will plug directly into. This car will have it all when I'm done :-D
