Audio design schematic up for wiring help

1 Attachment(s)
Greetings all! Brand new to the forums and proud new owner of an RX8.

I am designing a small, yet clean sounding stealthy audio system for the car. Hopefully fanatics like yourselves can help me determine if I have the proper hardware based on the stock equipment I plan to use with it.

1) I have the BASE model stereo in the car (no Bose AMPs). Based on that, is there a CD Changer input on back of the HU to take advantage of the Audio Link MP3 player I read about here.

2) Is the Line-Out setup I have displayed OK? Any possibility of burning up the HU?

3) Does the HU have a remote turn-on output?

4) Most importantly, if you see anything missing connectivity-wise, errors etc, please feel free to contribute.

Nice drawing.

If you use the Audio Link for line input for the XM radio, you shouldn't need the FM modulator. Other than that, it looks good.

Welcome to the club.

Thanks Wilson!

For whatever reason, I was under the impression that the Line In on the Audio Link was just for HU control and the RCA Stereo on the XM Modulator was for a direct Line In on the HU. So that changes things a bit.

I guess I'd just need an RCA Stereo to 1/8" Mini plug. I'd rather have a direct signal vs. FM modulation anyway.

The line in will sound much better than the FM Modulation.

Well, I decided to change up the speaker selection from MB Quarts to Phoenix Gold. Better priced and sounds better (in my opinion). I snagged 2 of the Xenon X5.0 Component 5 1/4 sets with the 6X8 and 6X9 plate conversions. Since I have an Audiobahn ALUM10N sub, the low end is taken care of.

I will eventually upload the pics of the install. Thanks for the help

Nope. A line converter isn't going to blow up your head unit.

You should really read all the stickys at the top of this section of the forum. But I'll throw you a frickin' bone and give you the answer: no.

You still should read all the stickys. They helped me tremendously when I was planning (and doing) my audio system upgrade. Here is a link to the tread I created when I was done: CLICK ME
