Audio Control Eq, Hookup Pre or Post Bose amp?

OK, I picked up this Audio Control Three.1 in dash Eq, crossover to help out my bass, and eventually replace my stock Bose amp, and speakers. I wanted to be able to control the bass alittle more than just using the JL bass ****. Now, the eq features a pre-amp line driver that will take a weak output voltage of 1-2 volts from the headunit and increase it up to 9 volts rms, 13 peak. It also has speaker level inputs. I believe I am supposed to hook the eq up pre Bose amp, but not to the speaker level inputs. But convert the outputs of the HU to RCA and hook them to the RCA input jacks? Since pre amp are low levels?
I recently rewired my aftermarket amp JL 1000/1 to pre bose amp and the bass sounds alot better, not so muddy. But I had to switch the amp from using the high input voltage to the low input voltage. Gain is only 1/3 up. I have read all the threads regarding the pre and post Bose amp. I am just not sure about the correct way to input to the eq, speaker level or regular rca input. Any help would be appreciated. Here's a link to the EQ http://mobileaudiocontrol.com/produc...50&l1=5250&l2=

Yes, splitting the wires to go RCA is acceptable, if you really wanted to do this.

But this thing wasn't intended for a BOSE system.

So, I would just wire it in after the speakers (using the high level inputs) and either keep the whole BOSE intact or take all the BOSE out and get a new headunit. Those two wires coming from the HU are not simple signal, one is interlaced and the other is ground. The whole BOSE system is intended to reduce background noise from wiring to the front of the car to the back of the back of the car, and it does a pretty good job.

Other than that: The 10w7 is the cleanest sub I have ever heard, even hooked up to LLC, and I have a Klipsch home audio setup. If you think its muddy then you have other problems with your setup.

High signal levels only help you to a point. The improvement between a 9V and say 2V are usually marginal.

No use the speaker level inputs. The Bose headunit still sends a speaker level type signal to the Bose Amp. EDIT for clarity: So tap into the signals that go to the Bose amp and route them to your Three.1's speaker level inputs.

Using a speaker level to RCA converter is just an unneccessary step and can POSSIBLY distort your bass signal due to the transformers those things use.

You MIGHT also be able to send the Three.1's high frequency output signals to the Bose Amp (i.e. the Three.1's non-subwoofer channels). This will elliminate the bass going to your Bose system so that it won't be as overworked. This may or may not work but won't hurt anything if it doesn't. The Bose amp expects a speaker level input signal and you would be giving it a high voltage line level signal instead without the DC offset that the speaker level signal has.

EDIT for clarity: So instead of simply tapping into signals going the Bose amp (as mentioned above), you could actually reroute them so they ONLY go to the Three.1. Then take the high frequency outputs of the Three.1 and send them to the Bose amp. It might just work.

Now I am confused. I have one person telling me it is exceptable to convert the HU outputs to a rca patch cord, and use the rca inputs on the eq. The other is telling me to use the speaker level inputs. I wonder if I use the speaker level inputs, does this mean I need to change the switch on my amp back to high input? Maybe I should just experiment with it. Thanks for all the help.

xrider,

Either way will work, but you don't NEED a speaker level to RCA converter.
