Question Anyone try this on their Head unit?

Has anyone held down the text/ control **** and the radio preset 3 button?

It goes into a weird mode. I can't figure out if it changes something ...

The radio has to be on. Volume set to 1. In order for it to do it.

Also you can check to see which version firmware you have by having the radio on volume set to 1 and press the text/ control **** and hold the radio preset 1 button till it displays it on the radio display above the head unit.

I have firmware version 9.55

Did you do the Text and Preset 3? It goes into some kind of mode I can't figure out what it is for.

We found how to change the contrast for the head unit display

Hold Text / audio **** and press and hold display then change the contrast by turning the text/ audio ****. Default is set at 8.

I tend to keep myself busy enough so waiting doesn't seem to happen.

I also involuntarily forget when I order something that way when I go out to the mailbox it is like Christmas everyday.

Oooh I wonder what is in this package... it is wrapped so nicely... heavy too. Oh sweet!

This is going to be awesome. Thanks to ME!

Is that a picture of YOUR head unit? If yes, how come you got automatic climate control in the USA?

I don't know what [Text + 3] is for either but when I do it with the FM on, the volume jumps to 26 with the radio on the station the preset is set to. The display now shows "0=" before the frequency, all other buttons are disabled but pushing the Seek/Track/APC button up or down changes the number from 0 thru 9 and the sound changes level and speaker location. Sounds kind of like it might be fine-tuning a week signal. I had to preset it to a very weak but quiet frequency first or the sound would blast me out with a normal station. I didn't try it to see what it did with a CD playing, if it worked at all.

I did notice that pushing [Power+Preset 2] turns on a "level=[number]" in the readout that shows the signal level as you tune in stations.

I remember an old thread that covered some of these I but don't know if any of these are new discoveries.

Interesting I forgot to mention that the volume jumps

Hmmm I'll be messing with this more.

Tamas didn't you see the thread about putting the Mazda 6 auto climate control in the 8?

I think mine is the only one that has auto climate control in the U.S.

No, it isn't my head unit. I was looking for a reaction or some input.

When I was deciding which car to buy I was so close to getting the 6 because of the auto climate control (had it in my previous car and it worked well).

Wonder how much work it would be to install the 6 climate control in the 8.

meddled with the (text+3) just now.
I think the 0. to 9. are some sort of preset equalizers.

My bad, they are just to test each speakers.
But I have only 4 speakers, so 0 to 3 does that.
4 to 9?

Hmmm it does change the settings for bass and treble though so you weren't far off.

It was funny when we accidentally found the text preset 3 mode...

yeah, the sound seems to jump to all the speakers so you are probably right about that. I don't know why the damn volume has to be so loud, though. Maybe it's for blowing them all, one by one.

No doubt.

After messing with it I now put the

front +4
Bass +3
Audiopilot off
Treble 0
Right left 0

Better sound stage in the front.

4 to 9?
The Bose system has 9 speaker: 2 each in the front door, one in dashboard center, four in the rear deck.

Is the constrast on factory setting the best for appearance?
