Question Am I just retarded???!??!

This is going to sound really, as I said.. retarded. I guess I'm just having a blonde moment

ANYway, I assumed that my cd changer (just got my 8 on Tuesday night) was a single in dash regular cd player, which is cool with me, since that's what I'm used to.

I notice yesterday (I haven't gotten to drive it much till today because of lousy weather), that the stereo unit has a button that says "load." i was like, wtf is that? i just put my cd in and it worked fine, i didn't have to hit load. then i start looking at other stuff, and i see a button that says CD with an up arrow, and another button that says CD with a down arrow.

Is this a 6 disc changer? I assumed it must be, and the load is for loading additional cds. But I hit that, and **gently** tried to insert another cd. Denied. So, I hit the CD up button just to see if anything happened, it didn't.

I figure, it must be a 6 disc changer, because if it wasn't, why would there be CD up CD down buttons? Or are they for something completely different?

Like I said, I just got this thing and only got to drive it a couple times at night, up until today... Thanks for any info.

I looked in my documentation too, figuring it would be in there somewhere, but I couldn't find anything!!!

If you have a CD changer, you just keep loading them in. If you don't the buttons are there anyway, but they don't do anything. I dont' have it and I still have the buttons.

It would say "6 disc" on the face of the unit, on the upper right edge of the CD load slot.

correction, the 6-disc logo is located on the LEFT, just under the cd loading slot.

Mazda's head unit is modular, so if you want to install the cd changer, you just install the cd changer module in place of the original cd player, change the faceplate (so it says '6 disc' under the slot), and you're good to go :o
