Aftermarket Shiftknobs for an AT
Hey guys I am getting a little tired of the stock AT shift knob and am trying to find some replacement options that aren't too expensive. I know that the AT's and MT's have different threads, so what is the AT thread size, and what would look good and fit as well? I plan to get a shift boot to cover up the shift pattern plate since I've grown sick of it. Possibly a black or grey alcantara boot with black or white stitching. The only ones I know of that would be decent for an AT an not feel out of place would be the Mazdaspeed CF knob that's made for the Miata, the Rx-8 Rotary knob for an AT, and the Momo knobs. Other than the Momo ones, the other two seem too expensive. Does anyone think a voodoo knob with an alcantara shift boot would be stupid on an AT? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

maybe its in the service manual?
the service manual is in my sig. |
Bump. Come on guys. I know there are options out there that I have seen before. Post them up!

I cna't help with the knob, but here is a boot on an AT. It's a black alcantara boot wiht gray stitching. i have matching front and rear console covers too.

Are you sure the Miata knob is an exact fit? It's nice but $150.... yikes. I haven't been able to find any non-oem knobs for our AT.

try japanparts.com, i think you can find Mazdaspeed, AutoExe and if i recall the R Magic and RE too :)

Thanks for reminding me about the Autoexe. Almost forgot about that one. I will probably be getting the black CF Autoexe one with a black alacantara shift boot with white stitching.

i think it'll look nice, just post up pic later :)

Don't worry, I will. I just bought sway bars, so I may wait a little to purchase this. Once I do, I'll be sure to put up pics.

Try something unique perhaps different
I got an idea from a friend back in the late '90s when he had his Dodge Ram with a piston style knob shifter. I added a piston as a knob to mine and plan to license my plate as 1 Pistn just to confuse people and piss off the fanbois :D: That 1 piston makes up for 50 horsepowa! |

Actually they do have an option for the CF Mazdaspeed knob for the AT.

Are those both the same knob? Or did you end up buying both by mistake? It looks like you just changed the height of the boot?
