adding leather heateed seats
Has anyone converted their seats to leather after market? Any advice weclome
I have been refered to a local restyling shop by the Mazda dealer. They quoted $1400 for leather conversion and $400 for the heaters, installed. The Mazmart guy also pointed me to katzkins.com.
Talked with Mazmart about buying heated leather seats from a wrecked 8 w/GT package. He wasn't sure whether all 8's would be prewired for this option. does anyone know? (...before I go to the trouble of puling the consloe apart looking for harnesses.)
Thanks,
Bob

$1400 for just the leather is quite a lot. i paid $1130 (tax included) for my conversion at CST which included the door panels as well.
Don't know about the heating - I was also offered that but wasn't interested in getting the butt warmers, so we didn't even go into details about pricing that out.
My guess would be that the wiring will not be in place, for the simple reason of saving some cost. Hell, not even the wiring for the autodim/Homelink mirror is there in cars not so equipped.

Thanks. The $1400 included door panel, but seemed high to me too. True, CA has a pretty nice climate, but it does get into the 30's though most of the dead of winter, so the seats can be cold, esp. if the car parked outside. I have heated seats on my Pilot and like them because they reduce the minor pain and tighness in my back - that's the primary reason I want them.

350 each for the front seats and 250 each for the back and then 500 for the door panels. You will have to pay additional to have the heater wiring installed and all.

I went the aftermarket leather route as well--my price was a little bit higher than Tamas--I also didn't opt for seat heaters (i'm in Houston); plus seat heaters are problematic--I had them in both my Millenia Ss and the driver's side went out in both cars. I have black/tan combo in my Nordic Green. oh--I went via Katzkin leather.

SpongeBob,
Don't know who you spoke to at Mazmart but if you give me a call I can tell you all you need to know about your seating situation. We're not always the cheapest but I do tend to have the nicest in the country (All factory Mazda).
When calling us, ask for Paul : The RX8 guy.
