adding Bose speakers to my base Rx8

Thinking about adding the GT Bose stereo system(speakers, tweeters and amp) to my base Rx8. Is it pretty much plug and play? has anyone done this before?

If you're going through all the work of doing that you might as well go aftermarket stereo. The Bose really isn't that great.

I think you'll also need to replace the head unit so that everything is compatible with the rest of the Bose stuff.
As it was said, you're much better off getting aftermarket speakers and a good amp, and retain the stock base head unit. The result will be much better, and it will likely be more cost effective too, unless you can get the Bose components very cheap.
If you get a good 5-channel amp, you can even hook up a subwoofer in addition to upgrading the speakers, and if done well, that setup will blow the Bose out of the water.

For that much you could get a decent 4 channel amp and make the stock speakers sing.

I just thought about something... I'm not sure if the Bose 9" speaker will fit in your front door if your car has the base stereo. You might want to search on that one a little before buying anything.
Also, where would you put the center speaker? Does that setup come with the replacement dash panel with the opening for the center speaker? What about the door tweeters? Does it come with the sail panels for them?

DON'T DO IT!!!!!!!

You will need to replace ALL of your speakers with Bose units, as well as make a much bigger hole in your door panels to fit the front door woofers. Youll need to replace your radio as well because the bose system outputs low level signals from the HU, and the base system outputs speaker level signals.

All and all, it'd be a shitty upgrade for a lot of money. Go aftermarket.
