Adding 6-CD as an accessory?

Hi all:

Can anyone advise about the practicality of adding the stock in-dash 6CD player as an accessory (post sale)? One car in inventory locally has everything I want except that item, but I got into a big project when I wanted to add a stock CD player to my '94 FD because of wiring harness issues.

Oh, wait a minute... isn't this option more than the CD unit? Does it maybe add some speakers or change the head unit?

Any help appreciated.

Have the dealer add it and include it in the price of the vehicle. That's what I did. The CD changer is an easy add-on for any tech. The dealer can order it when you buy the car and add it when it comes in.

If you can't get the dealer to install it pre-sale, it's no big deal to install it yourself. Check out this thread for illustrated step-by-step instructions and tips from folks that have done it. (The 6-disk unit installs in exactly the same way as the MP3 player.)

Thanks for the quick reply, guys. Mazda took a step backward, but in the right direction with the 8. My 2gen '7 has the same wiring harness for all cars produced. Any electrical component or accessory that the factory originally allowed for can simply be dropped into the system and works perfectly. But for some unknown reason, they went away from that in the 3gen, producing wiring harnesses that were specific to the equipment package. You shoulda seen the fun I had just trying to add the stock foglights to my car!
