Question for all you tech's out there.
I just bought the fairly new 7" Magellan 1700 GPS.
Reason being is upon purchasing my 1st 2004 RX8 last month it did not have the NAV DVD disc included. Stolen or who knows what happened too it.
After asking several of you knowledgeable people here on the boards , pretty much everyone said do not buy the disc because the program is so old.

So I measured the NAV hole size and the Magellan fits, kind of.
I was wondering if it would be difficult to hard-wire the power cord into the current DVD/NAV system. Or are there adapters available on line somewhere?
Any help or pointers would be greatly appreciated.

Also, I am looking to most likely sell the whole NAV system.
Without the NAV holder assembly of couse (need that for my new 7" screen).
And of course without the NAV DVD disc.
What would be a good asking price?

I think he already has those parts from what I read in his post. He's all he's asking about is wiring the power from his new gps(which he wants to insert in his current NAV housing) to the car so that it get's charged. At least that's how I interpreted the original post.

I have looked around and I can't quite find the answer to your question stillkiller7. I wouldn't asume it would be hard to figure out once you got the NAV opened up.

There are quite a few members here that have done mods in that area of the car so I'm sure one of them could point you in the right direction once they see your post.

I would really like to hear how it comes out when you're finished and I'll keep an eye out for anything information that can help you.

Yes, I plan on intalling the new GPS unit into the current NAV hole.
I will research some more on the forms, I believe I saw someone discussing the power cords and also the DVD player.
I just finished college this weekend so I have a little more time on my hands.
Not much but more than when I spent every weekend doing homework.

As far as selling my old unit, I will sell the parts I have remaining, dont know if anyone will be interested in them because the NAV housing unit will not be available. I need it to hold my new GPS system.

I will take pics and post under MOD folder once I am done.
