IL 2009 R3 TomTom hardwire?

I did do a search about hardwiring accessories, but my question is specific.

I have a 2009 RX-8 and I just purchased a Proclip bracket for my TomTom. The bracket will hold the GPS just to the right of the radio in the passenger side area. The wiring for the kit includes the bracket with power cord built in, that wire ends in a 6 pin connector, that connector plugs into a small box, the other side of that box is a wire that splits into two exposed wires. I may have to take it to the dealer, but I'd rather try and do it myself or pay someone local and trustworthy. Here are my questions;

1) What's the best route to get that wire to the right of my radio without too much wire showing?

2) What interior parts do I have to remove to route this wire?

3) How do I remove those parts without damaging anything?

4) Can the 6 pin connector go into something like the Radio without using the rest of the wiring?

5) If I use all the wiring and connect to the fuse box, where do I and what is the proper way to ground the wire?

6) Do my questions sound like someone who should just pay to have it done?

7) Where should I take it to if not the dealer?

Thank you for any advice,
Steve

All those questions, I'd recommend take it to someone.

A local audio shop can install those in about 15 minutes, very very easy to do. (Best Buy / Circuit City)
If you would like to do it yourself then its quite easy also.

1) Mount the unit
2) Find where you want to run the wire / remove panels (Easy to tear apart an RX8 since its all clips.)
3) Plug the 6 pin connector into the box, and the box has power and ground coming out of it.
4) Run the power to either the fuse box / ignition column. (Switched accessory only)
5) Ground anywhere on the chassis, make sure you scrape the paint in the area that's going to be used for the ground.
6) Done, and enjoy

I ran mine very simply by using an "add a fuse" kit from pep boys and wiring a second accessory outlet to it and ziptying it up under the dash. Since you have two wires already, you wouldn't even have to add an accessory outlet.

I had very very minimal electronics experience and it still took me all of 45 minutes to do it. $75 is a ripoff

a decent shop should only charge ya about 30 for that anyways. 75 is just plain dumb.

Hey everyone, I just hardwired my Tomtom GO 720 tonight to my fuse box and just wanted to make sure I did everything right. I used the following:

1. "Add a fuse" from autozone
2. Accessory outlet from Radioshack

I plugged my Tomtom GO cigarette adapter->accessory outlet->add a fuse. I plugged the "add a fuse" into my cigar slot in the fuse box. (The 1st slot where the 15 fuse is). I used the bolt right next to the foot rest for the ground.

My main question is, I have a 15 & 10 fuse plugged into the "add a fuse." Is that alright or correct? Please let me know incase I did anything wrong!
