It's his web-action.
lol

Note: OK, so I have to take my 8 back because after 5 days I still have spots/bubbles in almost all the windows and the rear window tint is a little lifted in the rear...like if the lower part was not glued right.

So, not to say anything bad about them but having to go back REALLY sucks! I knew going in as the last apointment of the day was trouble...

jenkins-crew 02-21-2005 06:27 PM

kind of a rule of thumb, don't be first and don't be last :D

jenkins-crew 02-21-2005 06:28 PM

I am getting tint done in 2 weeks are you happy with the 20%, besides the bubbles?

HardHitter 02-21-2005 08:17 PM

I just got back from tinting my RX-8. I gave the car over today in the morning (around 9ish) and debated for a while on which % I wanted, 20% or 30%. They finally put a sample of both %'s on my window and I came up with the decision of getting 20%. Picked it up today around 5 and I must say it looks amazing. It was a lot darker than I thought it would be but it looks great. I will take pictures whenever the weather is better. Cost me $275 out the door. Yes I know, pretty expensive, but it isn't those kind of Dr.Tint/Mr.Tint places. This one has been around for over 40 years now and is ran by very mature and professional people. I rather pay $275 and never have any problems, than for it to start to bubble up. Everythings looks great and is very smooth, I am very happy.

Who me? I got 35%...I wish they had 30%, but the tint looks great other than looking close up...

Cool, I can't wait.

I got mine done about 11:30am Saturday. I have noted your issues rx8wannahave. I had some small bubbles on both the drivers and passanger side windows. He said that it may take 3-5 days to fully adhere. By Monday morning they were gone and it all looks flawless. He said it would fully cure in 2-3 weeks. I'll keep an eye on the rear window to see if I see any signs of peeling etc...

NOTE: I was told by other tinters that the back window of the 8 should be done in one piece. Not two. You may want to ask when you take it back in. I didn't think about it til I was already home. In fact, I may call tomorrow just to ask.

jenkins-crew 02-21-2005 09:02 PM

yes let us know.....

WestCoastFun 02-21-2005 10:58 PM

I'm getting my red 8 tinted in 10 days. 35% back window and rear - 50% front doors. In BC it is illigal to do the front door windows, but I think I will get away with 50%. Cost is $299 Canadian, but the place I am going to has a great reputation.

jenkins-crew 02-21-2005 11:03 PM

Three 8s in our area are all going together and we are getting ours done for 150 legal 200 illegal.

rx8wannahave 02-22-2005 09:59 AM

Cool...lol, going together...that will be more fun that sitting watching a TV with bad reception...lol

Note: I just called Flying Window Tinting and they said they can fix the peeling back window but that the small bubbles would leave on their own, so I"ll give them the benifit of the doubt...I"m still going to bring it in so they can take a look at it...we shall see...

My tinter said the same thing, he put the back window as one piece.

rx8wannahave 02-22-2005 10:02 AM

My back window looks lke it's in one piece...from what I can see...

jenkins-crew 02-22-2005 11:02 AM

It better be one piece, or I would be pissed.

Tigster 02-22-2005 12:39 PM

I had my windows done at Custom Shade Window Tinting, in winter park. I paid $127.80 including tax for the heat reflective tint on all the windows including the windshield. My back window is also 1 piece with no air bubbles in the windows. He is the guy who does the tinting for alot of the high end auto dealerships in town. He has his shop off Minnesota Ave in Winter Park.

strayer2189 02-26-2005 11:51 PM

Im getting mine done on my b-day theres a shop in my town that has a special $70 for 30 all the way around

jenkins-crew 02-26-2005 11:59 PM

wow that's cheap, make sure and get the lifetime warranty because it's probably not good quality tint.

tiggerlee 02-27-2005 11:26 AM

I agree. I would personally get a second opinion on that place. When it comes to tint you don't want to go half ass, ya know. You get what you pay for.

jenkins-crew 02-27-2005 04:46 PM

unless you know someone who got it done that has had it for a while so you can see what the quality is and if it will hold up. Otherwise I would find a different shop IMO opinion.

strayer2189 02-27-2005 04:49 PM

yea there good i have a couple of friends that got it, its normaly 150 but they have a discount for birthdays

jenkins-crew 02-27-2005 04:53 PM

Well as long as your satisfied that's all that matters, good luck! Post some pics on here when you get it.
