I am trying to decide what percent I want to get my windows tinted whenever I get my rx-8. I live in Indiana and I know for sure I'm going darker then the 35% legal limit I'm just not sure how much darker. Also I don't know if I want to get a strip across the windshield or what. Everyone post your opinions and pictures with the percent your cars are. Thanks, Phill.

 

Mine is pretty damn dark, I even got my front windshield tinted. You can see pics of it on my myspace albums.

If you are going darker then 35 anyways, definately do at least 20 on the front. I like mine, but your not allowed to have any on the front in IL so I didn't want to go too dark.

 

I think I want to do my windows 15% anyone got pics of 15%? Here are the 2 rx-8's I'm looking at on Saturday.

A friend here in the office has 20% and for me it is too dark. While it is nice during the day, night driving is horrid. I like the look from the outside, but it doesn't make up for adding even more blind spots to the 8. Another friend has 35% which is a little light from the outside but is just right from the inside day or night. As for the front window tint...I have yet to like it on any car.

Seriously, this makes cops very nervous. If you get stopped for any reason it's a good idea to roll down your windows and/or turn on interior lights before the officer walks over. They will appreciate it and might save you a problem with the tinting.

I've got my front windsheild tinted. Haven't been busted yet and it's been almost 6 months now.

 

anyone got 25% i wanted to see some pics of that and was wondering if that would still be difficult to see out of at night.

I got mine done in Huper-Optik, I don't know the exact % but I want to say it's 35%? Whatever the legal limit is in Texas, that's it.

From the outside, it's virtually pitch black. From the inside, you hardly realize it's tinted at all--nighttime driving is a breeze. Plus it's better at rejecting heat than pretty much any other tint. It's pricey but I will definitely have it on whatever car I own next.

 

How do you guys feel about a 5" strip on the front? Ya or nay I am still undecided. Pics would help too

25% is a really good level I think. It's not too dark to see out of at night, but it's just enough that you really can't see in from a few feet away during the day. This is important for highway trips with the girlfriend ;-)

 

happen to know what the fine is for that? And is that your FD? Think I saw that in the sale section of the 7 forums not too long ago.

 

my buddys got 35 all the way around except for the front. and hes got double limo tint on it. its illegal. but its dark as ****. u cant c in there AT ALL.

 

I reccomend that you ask if people in your area get crap from the police about tinted windows. Where I live, cops have better things to worry about than window tints, and nobody gives you problems. I have 20% all around, and I love it.

I also reccomend that you wait until you are fully comfortable with knowing the dimensions of the 8 before you get tints. It can be hard to get around at night with the windows tinted if you don't know your car well.
