Will new side skirts cover damage?

So, I'm in the Navy and get moved around alot... Bought my 8 in South Carolina and shortly after was told i have to go to New York. Never having driven a rear wheel drive car in the snow before it did not go so well, So i was wondering if side skirts would cover up damage to the area directly below my passenger doors. Anyone ever had experience with this? I would post pic's but it's dark out so ill have to get them tomorrow morning. I drive an '04 RX8 with no side skirts and from the looks of it, i'd have to replace a whole lot of good car to fix the little bit of bad.

Thanks everyone!

Yeah, you would need to post pictures if you could, depends on which sideskirts you get; appearance package, Mazdaspeed(OEM or replica), or aftermarket. But, take a look into this thread before you make a purchase: "Under Rocker Panel Repair"

Essentially the same exact damage, i like the look of the 04 body with no lips anywhere so i may go get a quote to see if they can fix it / how much. I'll still throw some pics up when i get a chance and after depending on which route i take.

Thanks for the link though.

Make sure you undercoat or prime and seal anything scratched through the paint...or it will rust badly

Yeah, i love the color. Really pops when she's nice and clean. Can anyone recommend temporary coverage to prevent rust while i work on funding to get it fixed. From the same accident my doors got a crease in the metal and some paint cracked so hopefully not a very ugly fix. I got some touch up paint on the way, if i just put some of that on would that be sufficient?
