What about a set of taillights, LED or otherwise with a red lens? the only thing i don't like about our lights are the clear 'altezza' lenses.

Personally I think the generic refractive lens look makes them extremely cheap and tacky.

Agreed! I could slap a circuit board with LEDs behind a generic piece of textured plastic for much less than that. For $2000 I want a chromed plastic housing with each LED in it's separate little reflector bowl like any OEM LED housing would have.

Hi guys

Long time we have not been on this forum. We received some emails linking us to this thread, so I wanted to chime in and answer some questions.

Our company is not volume-based. For the past decade we have specialized in building-up OEM factory housings to customer specifications. Unfortunately, all of our RX-8 customers have been based out of the US and were unable to provide us with photos. If our customers were local, we would gladly post before and after pics. A perfect example would be our NSX tail light upgrade which shows side-by-side contrast:

No shame in that. If you're inclined to do your own work, by all means have at it. We're a business with over 10 years experience in one thing: light building. We stand behind anything we build, warranty and all. Everything from water entry to LED failure.

We've built translucent red tail lights for the current body Impreza, here is an example:

A translucent red tail light is not really an option with the RX8 because of the reverse light location. The reverse light would need to be relocated, possibly the rear fog light location w/ custom lens work. Feel free to contact us if this is something you guys are seriously interested in.

Fair enough. However, keep in mind that what you two are referring to involves completely re-engineering the RX8 tail light from the ground up. This means creating a completely new design and then investing in injection molding. Based on volume on cost, the only realistic way of having this done would be in overseas which means quality will typically suffer. You'll need to produce thousands, not including the additional costs should you decide to use high quality LED components. All of this takes lots of time and money. Keep in mind that our RX8 lights have been out for years now. To-date there really havent been many other options, mass-produced or custom. Expensive or not, we're proud to have been the first to offer high quality, highly detailed lighting products for the RX8.

I see no point wasting time and resources to create these lights from a company ClearCorners! They are nice, but not as exotic to giving the space a price of $ 2,100. The changes you made do not justify the price!
I doubt that you sold and one set! You just looking for quick and easy win! I do not like these companies!

Forgive me for spelling, I hope understand me.

^ agreed. I would be interested if it wasn't just a fluorescent light diffuser stuck in the light with a few LEDs. Not worth $2100.

For $2100, you need to build it from the ground-up and offer something quite spectacular. For this, it needs to be in the 3-digits before anyone will consider it.

I mean, RotaryRasp did an amazing job on his LED tails and those were selling for what... $500-$600?

It's a reflector ring. If you take a pic with the flash it will look like that too.

I don't know where he got the three arm bulb, but V-LEDS makes a 7 arm that is much brighter:

Is there anyone on this board that would be willing to do this for around $600 or thereabouts? I've been looking to buy LED lights for a while but I don't have 2gs for the clearcorners option. If it's under $1000 I'd at least be willing to have a conversation about trying to get it done. PM me if you know anyone that can handle this.

Did this bulb slide right in or did you have to cut a bigger opening?

It slides right in, just like the similar one with 7 blades... but if you happen to accidentally drop it into the light, it'll be a pain to get it out
