Wheels and ride height

I want to eventually lower my rx8 about 2 inches... and I'm looking to get 19 x 9 wheels.

I've read that when you get bigger wheels you lose horsepower and suspension can get thrown off somewhat when you lower the car. Anyone lowered their's and have some advice for doing so?

1. bigger wheels don't make you lose power, it just takes more torque to turn them. also has to do with their weight.

2. when you lower the car, get an alignment.
