Yup, I had an aluminum **** on another car, hot in summer, cold in winter. It is good looking, though.

 

It's not aesthetically pleasing to me. Also, doesn't look comfortable

It's very nice looking, would match the RX-8 interior trim very well. If you're going to get an aluminum shift ****, though, you might as well get a Voodoo. They are the bee's knees. And if you want it engraved, you can send it to the Knobmeister to get it done.

well i have only had the stock **** for 3000 miles, and the silver paint is already fading away

 

Ditto - the Voodoo ***** are fantastic. The aluminum doesn't get that hot in summer (especially in a coupe where the sun isn't blasting directly on it, like in a Miata), and isn't that bad in winter either. They are extremely comfortable to use. I'm keen to get one - they even offer a real Titanium shift ****, but it's substantially more expensive than the Al ones...

I've decided I like the Pearl one the most. Now to set some moolah aside to get one.

 

The last picture just looks a little like a foreskin. I guess I've been corrupted by the Lounge :p

I add my vote for the VooDoo ***** AND the knobmeister. The Miata-spec ***** are a direct screw-on fit for the RX-8.

So far I haven't had any real trouble with the **** as far as temperature goes. It's been a bit warm on occasion but the aluminum has a relatively low thermal mass so it only takes a little while for the temp to moderate. They do sell little booties to keep the sun off them, which was more of an issue with the Miata.

 

I've seen better ***** on Barbara Bush, for chrissake.

 

I think it looks very nice. But I'd never buy one, as it would get too hot or cold. Plus I like the unique **** the car comes with stock.
