What do you think about THIS backup solution to redouts?(pic)

Some of you may remember I modded my taillights and installed smaller leds where the keyhole spot is on both sides. I love the look, but its still just not as bright as I want it, and I wouldnt have a shot passing inspection. I got this suggestion from someone before, and thought id tackle it in the next week or two using the carbon fiber licence plate backing on my kenstyle rear....(This is a photoshop by the way I havnt done it yet)

any suggestions before I order the stuff? Should I go with rectangle leds/Oval etc... ? Maybe painting the CF white to match the body and not stand out so much??

I would keep the concept of round lights but go up in diameter alittle, that is, unless you happen to find lights that are parallelagrams in shape, rectangles just wouldnt be nice with the way the piece contours,,,
On the otherhand I havent heard all that praise for perfect fitment of the piece your looking at,,, maybe try the same thing just without the CF plate insert,,,, I think then you could get away with rectangles(even though its the same footprint) because your not calling attention to that area,,,

hey i was thinking the same thing, im just real nervous about hacking up my rear bumper for lights. I guess if they were small enough it would be ok.... my idea with the carbon backing, is I could mount the reverse lights in there, then smoke the lens' a little to blend them right in to the carbon fiber. I never heard about the fitment issue, that might def be a factor since I dont know how exact my licence plate opening is compared to the stock bumper it was meant for.... they look close. How about fabbing up a insert for me with your amazing moulding skills?? hah

KC highlights, ha thats my next mod

i thought about that, i just dont think itd be enough light, theres only so much you can fit inside that 3rd brake light space
My leds mounted in my keyhole spot are good, i just want more light...more than oem specs if possible

thanks. it wouldn't be too hard to fix. just put some 3M double sided tape on the back of the sides.

it is flexible. it doesn't seem very thick. it wont fix the problem but it wont stick out if the tape holds.

decided to resurrect this thread...

What was the final solution?

Ever consider hiding LEDs behind the lower mesh portion? perhaps along the edge nearest to the body work?
