What color do corner lights have to be?

I've looked around, in forums and google and I haven't really found a definite answer.

Do corner lights have to be amber? I don't mean the housing, but the bulb itself.

Thanks!

It all depends on your states laws and if you care about getting pulled over. I had blue leds in my clear corners in my G35 and never had a problem.

US regulations require amber light and amber reflection. State laws vary on how you can modify that, but most just adopt the US regs (OR and WA for example). Technically my clear corners with amber bulbs are illegal where I live, but it's not really the kind of thing cops pull you over for around here. I would guess I could get away with white bulbs here also... I don't know about blue.

^^^Roger that! In most states the clear corners with amber (or amber/stealth) are not strictly legal (since there is no amber reflector anywhere), but won't attract any attention. It requires an uptight cop who's torqued at you for something else to get ticketed, but it does happen. Any other color bulb looks different at night, so is more risky.

What it does do is give a cop probable cause to pull you over.
