Want to take side aero flares off
I bought my 2005 RX-8 with side aero flares as part of the appearance package. Got a great deal on the car and so bought the car with the appearance package installed. I want to take the side aero flares off. Does anyone out there know whether this is possible? When this installation is made, does the dealer drill holes or make any other cuts to the body to make the installation? If it is possible to take these off, and when I take them off, anybody out there need a paid of side aero flares - free - you pay shipping costs.

You can take them off by turning your tires to show the inside part of the wheel well (facing the cabin). You will have to remove some plastic pins that hold it to the body and put your hand in there with an allen wrench and unscrew them from that black plastic long piece just behind your tires. Don't drop the allen wrench in there, been there done that! You can find the instructions online from anyone who sells the part. Might even be able to match up the correct allen wrench size to fit. Also, I think the whole black plastic piece snaps right out once both flares are loose. This makes it much easier when you put them on...

dude, don't take them off. You will be very dissapointed to find the massive holes in the side of your car. The dealer may not have done a perfect job on the install of this part, and you may, in fact, have more than just three holes. The holes (in my case) were not nice litle round holes, more like jagged ovals. There are three holes in the portion that connects to the fender well, and then two more, if I remember, along to bottom side of the car as it runs towards the front. I took this piece off when replacing it with the mS sides. I used a haridryer to get the two-sdied tape hot, and just pulled. There are a couple of clips that requir you to pull the piece in one direction, don't recall whether that was to pull towards the back or towards the front.
