No plans for Hobbes. It might seem strange since they were inseparable. But, that pic is from one of Calvin's flights of fancy where he's by himself enjoying the wonders he'll behold once he gets his wonderful motorized "propeller beanie" from mail order. Of course, for a 6-year old the realilty of "please allow 6-8 weeks for delivery" is devastating and it's agony as he waits for his beanie to arrive. Much like myself as I wait for my RX-8 :D

Disposable camera so the pictures are crappy. this is the pearl voodoo **** I just put on. Feels like its made for the car. *Perfectly* matches the pearlish trim where the carpet meets the shift panel and the trim around the shift boot. No gap at all between the **** and the boot. Install took less than a minute :D

Very happy with the purchase, best $40 I've spent in a long while. Felt like a steal. Has a nice weight, great feel.

I found my black crinkly-finish voodoo **** while prowling around in the garage last week (I had forgotten I had it - pulled the **** off the Miata before I sold it) and tried it on the 8. It fits perfectly. After driving around with it for a few days I'm really impressed and amazed that it makes as much difference as it does. As Xlorn's pic demonstrates, the voodoo is much lower than the stock ****, and makes me feel connected to the car in a way I didn't before. It just snicks right along, feels right in my hand, and looks great with the 8's matte black interior.

Caveat - it's the **** I drove with for six years before I got the 8, so I reckon it would feel right to me. YMMV. I love the look of the stock ****, but this one just feels better.

I had a Voodoo **** on my Contour SVT and it made a huge difference for me because the solid aluminum transmits much better feel of what's going on in the xmission as you shift.

I'm considering a Voodoo for the RX-8, but am more interested in their pistol grip style, if it will still result in a little shorter throw. For that it has to be shorter than the stock RX-8 ****.

Has anyone had a chance to compare the length of the Voodoo pistol grip vs. the stock RX-8 ****?

Thanks,

I got my Voodoo **** back from engraving today; it's the final piece for getting the interior the way I wanted. One last plug for The Knobmeister

My Voodoo shift *****

Went to Performance Plus Automotive Imports in Etobicoke, and picked up 2 Voodoo shift *****. BTW, Lex at Performace Plus was GREAT, excellent guy to deal with.

1 pearl (powdercoated) normal size ****
1 spun pistol grip ****

See pic to compare sizes. The standard RX shift **** is heavy compared with the Voodoos.

Enjoy. I like the pearl ****, and will be using that.

Thanks very much for the comparison pic! I'll be getting the **** rather than a pistol grip after seeing that.

Just got my Pearl Voodoo shift **** yesterday, and I can't believe what a difference it has made in my shifting enjoyment! I've always been a little underwhelmed by the feel of the RX-8 shifter, especially since my last manual tranny was in a Miata. It just never felt as smooth or "snick snick" as the Miata was. As others have described it, I think it had kind of a rubbery feel.

Well, I never thought simply changing the shift **** would make this much difference. It's much smoother now, a much more mechanical feel. And of course, it's a shorter throw with this ****, which is very nice.

Not to mention the fact that the Pearl finish perfectly matches the "aluminum" look trim in the interior! It's just gorgeous.

Before now, I often thought it was a shame that people were changing the stock shift **** - Mazda really did a nice job with the look/design of it. But now I know why. If you're on the fence about doing this, by all means go for it!! My stock shift **** makes a really cool RX-8 related paperweight.

My seat is quite low to give me headroom, and my arm rubs on the armrest a bit. I will have to try it for a week and see how it turns out.

I have the exact same one...I love it. I do love the stock shift ****, but my wife's wedding ring scratched it up, so I got this **** so I won't further damage the stock one. They cost like $250 new.

What I liked about the Voodoo **** is that it is a direct fit **** with no POS set screws, and it is a very simple ball...I love it.

I've got the Polished Aluminum and I love it, wouldn't trade it for the world. Well, except for possibly the Pearl Magnum VooDoo **** I want to try that one too. Seriously tho, the throws are so short it makes it so much more fun to drive.

i prefer the magnum voodoo *****...your palm literally can rest on it. plus the added mass makes the shifting feel even better.

I like my pearl shift ****, but it is lighter than the stock one. I wish that you could get a Voodoo **** in stainless steel (or probably regular steel), so that you could get the pearl look along with more weight.
