Veilside D1-GT Vs Generic Invader
ok so i'm sure most of you have seen many sites that offer rx8 body kits, and one thing i've noticed is that the veilside D1-GT is around 1K generally, some more some less give or take, and usually on the same site there is the "Invader" style body kit which to me looks almost exactly the same but cost half the price. Anyone know why the veilside version is so steep? is it a mark up in price because it's name brand, are the veilside products made of like uber amazingly better materials, or am just missing something that would justify the cost of the D1-GT Kit?

the veilside will probably fit a lot better and you can get a protection plan for it. the knock off "invader" is going to probably require a lot of extra prepping and fitting to get it to look like the authentic. im sure chrism will find this thread and help out

invader is junk and thin as paper.....it will also fit like garbage and cost as much at the body shop fixing it to make it right.....why would you put junk on your beautiful car?......and where on earth did you find the real VS for 1k?...if its real jump all over it.....that is pretty cheap!

An original will fit a lot better , so when you have a shop install it , it will cost you less. So bottom line is you'll break even. If you can , stick to the original. I have the veilside lip and side and they fit perfectly , the only reason I took it the shop was because of painting......

Quite simply (as was already stated), the body shop is going to have to charge you a lot just to get the INVADER to fit properly.... and guess what happens WHEN it breaks? Too bad, so sad, buy a new one.
If you get ours, expect MINIMAL work at the body shop AND if it breaks, just call us up and get a replacement one for 50% off.
I think the choice is clear.

Wail me if you must, but I've searched. What is the front clearance on the VS kit? Living in MA, I'm hessitant on buying any kit however I DO want one. Also, I didn't lower my car at all. And no, I'm not interested in the MS.

I do have the fogs hooked up... this is the best pic I have of the front. I'd take one for ya but she's stored for the winter.
Note: Mine feels lower than 6"... closer to 4"... not aware that this car was lowered though. I gotta check on that.

That is a must, looking for some right now actually (leads?) Also adding the fender strakes. And getting rid of all the orange bulbs.
CF hoods on anything but black or gray looks wrong imo... besides i kinda like the stock hood better than the d1gt hood.

I was actually thinking of shaving down the bottom corners on the front bumper so they don't stick out so much... maybe something a little bit cleaner/tighter to the rest of the body. Anyone good with photoshop wanna gimme a peak at what that would look like?

I would have to agree with these guys here about the replica bumper, i have one that was given to me and i have had to put in alot of work to make it stronger because it is VErY thin and rather wavy in some spots plus fitment is not so great at all. as far as ground clearance i have actuallty taken 2 1/2" from the bottom lip of mine to keep the chance of ground contact to a minimum. unless you do bodywork ( i do) i would suggest buying the real deal and save guys like me alot of trouble and save you more money in the long run.
