Tsunami front + Veilside hood = Damn Sexy
Well, after 6 weeks of phone calls, photos, insurance claims, parts orders, rental cars, and clutch-leg atrophy, my car is FINALLY finished and back in buisness.
My nasty little run-in with the Escalade afforded me the ability to slap on the Tsunami front bumper, and a Veilside D1 GT Carbon Fiber hood, although it took WEEKS to actually get the parts.
So, I pick her up tonight at 5pm sharp, and hopefully Ill keep her in my hands for longer than two months before my next accident. I took a look at the painted bumper while it was off of the car on monday, along with the hood, and I am VERY pleased with my choices, the designs complement eachother perfectly.
PICS TONIGHT! Ill be snapping some at the body shop as soon as I see her, so Ill have pictures posted by 7pm or so.
Whats next? Well friday is my day off, so the car will get some much needed tints, and the Tein Basic coilovers Ive had sitting in my closet for the past 4 months will finally serve their purpose. The car will be looking very different by the end of this week, and Ive been waiting for so long it doesnt even seem real anymore. I CANT WAIT!!! Check back tonight for pix!

No DEEDUB, I dont have a full kit yet... I wouldnt have just put a front end on had it not been for the accident. If I HAD to put an new front bumper and hood on, why stick with stock? I agree it will look funny at first, but Ill be quick to put a new rear and sideskirts on to tie it all up.
For now Ive got the side aero flares as "half" skirts, and the back end is stock, so it will look a little nose heavy, but like I said, it was a matter of situation, not choice, which has brought my RX8 to this point. If I had the $1800 to spend in general, my first choice would NOT have been astetic mods.
Kinda sucks, because untill I finish up the body kit, Im not gunna want to mod anything else... so the exhaust, intake, and pullies are gunna have to wait untill I get some skirts and a rear.
Trust me, I am a big supporter of having "GO" before "Show", but My hand was forced, what can I say
T-Minus 3 hours and counting... Im just about to shart myself with anticipation! Check back in a few hours for PIX!

Here She Is!
Well Im not as cruel as MikeB would like... so here are the first pics I was able to snap off... more to come tomorrow when there is daylight.
To remind you of how it went IN the shop...
And this is how it came OUT...
Words cannot express how happy I was to just have my car back... but to get it back looking like THIS!
The hood is amazing... much more agressive than pictures can do justice. The whole front end of the car looks different... and I thought I had enough people asking what kind of car it was BEFORE.
All in all Im extremely pleased with how it all came together. As I thought the hood and bumper go perfectly together (if I may say so myself) and the aluminum meshing goes well with the OEM rims, strakes, my fuel door, and the mesh on the hood. For now, the car doesnt look terribly front heavy because of the side aeros, but Im gunna need some side skirts and a new back end ASAP... thus adding to the never ending cycle of modding.
Well everyone, whatcha think? Keep in mind the coilovers and tints go in on friday, so its not quite done for now.
Phase 1 of my project RX8- FINALLY!

looks a shade lighter.
all you really need to complete the look is some front mudguards. the tsunami front is not low as some other aftermarket fronts are so front mudguards would be fine for it. but of course if you plan on going sideskirts, by all means, do it.
btw, you should spray paint the grill black. it'd look better.

It does look lighter... Im gunna take it back by the shop and see if I can get it repainted. Ti Gray is a hard color to match, Ive seen a few bumpers come out looking this same "lighter" tint. Thing is though, this same shop worked on my drivers side and trunk and matched the color perfectly before. We'll see what he says, I bet once he takes a good look at it he'll agree it needs to be repainted.
BUT, it tougher to tell in person, especially up close. IDK, Ill have to see what I think when I walk up to it tomorrow morning.

Don't get me wrong, it looks great. I can't wait to see it when you complete the look. Hopefully they'll be able to match the paint completely for you. Good luck and great choices.

Thanks for the complements and advice everyone... Im gunna go back to the body shop tonight to have them look at it and see what they say.
Tints and Coilovers are going in on friday, so Ill have met at least some of your suggestions by the end of this week As for painting the grille black, Im not sure if I want to or not yet, I might wait untill I get gunmetal rims to tone it down, cause if I get hyperwhite (Im deciding) then Ill want the grilles unpainted. We'll see.
So this is what I have planned next:
-Tsunami Side skirts
-AutoBahn Rear bumper
-AutoBahn CF Trunk Lid
-Paint roof and window pillars Carbon Fiber Charcole (color looks alot like CF)
-18x8.5 rims all around with nice tires to match
That should wrap up the astetics, and then Ill be on to the engine. My priorities have been reversed I guess.

That hood always reminds me of the forehead of that guy on Star Trek.....you know.....the sorta/kinda black guy! I don't know his name........pardon me for not being a "Trekie". Maybe he's a clingon.....or a vulcan.....or a ******.....who knows. Anyway congrats on your new upgrades.....I'm sure you're loving it!

Coilovers went on yesterday... and it was the biggest PITA install Ive ever done, not to mention it was like 90* out and I had no shade to work in. They feel great, the car looks perfect now (not slammed, but it sits nicely low now), and I shaved some weight off the car which is always good. Only casualty of the install was one of the mounting bolts on each side of my front strut mounts cracked off when I was tightening them with a breaker bar, so My front strut is held on by one bolt on each side for now... guess Im buying some new strut mounts this week?
I also got around to doing the Increased Throttle Respons mod and the Throttle Body Bypass mod this weekend as well, along with gutting my stock airbox. The car sounds a little better, gunna go get a K&N drop in today, should give it a little more pep and sound.
All in all, the car is slowly coming together more and more. Im pleased with the progress thus far, and I dont plan to stop anytime soon. Thanks for everyones advice and compliments, its much appreciated.
BTW, the color does not look anywhere near as "off" anymore. I think it might have just been the first day I picked it up, but now that it has sat int he sun some, you can hardley notice at all a difference in the colors, you realllllly have to stare at it now.
