Touchup paint question

This is gonna seem kinda wierd, but here goes.

About a month or so ago I hit some flying road debris on the highway and did some damage to my front bumper cover. I haven't been able to line up a cheap replacement, and I can't afford to have it professionally repaired (I have to buy a new furnace and AC for the house = $5,000+ that wasn't expected).

So I'm thinking about patching it up with the touchup paint. The damage is probably 90% scratches, so I can at least get it looking better. The problem is that it's damaged in such a way that brushing the paint on probably won't work well.

What I want to do is put the paint through my cheap wallmart airbrush that I bought years ago. Will the metal flakes clog it up? I imagine if I use the larger of the two spray nozzles it will probably be okay, but I want to get your opinions on that.

You can see pics of the damage here:

And yea, I know those are horrid pics, but I only had about a foot of clearance in front of the bumper to manage the camera, and I was too lazy (and mad at the situation) to move the car out just to take pics of the damage.

I was given an air brush, but I've never used it. I didn't think about trying touch up paint with it. I'll tell you this, since I have a titanium also: sometimes the black scrapes look better than the touch up paint. When you get up close, the touch up doesn't blend well and looks more awkward than having scratches. If you want to test it, try it on a not-noticeable place to see how it works.

But I think your question might be better answered on an art / air brushing forum or maybe a model car building forum. If it's a cheap air brush kit, give it a shot. Worse that can happen is the thing clogs and then you are out a cheap air brush kit. If it uses standard nozzles, you can always get another nozzle.

If you try it, let us know how it goes.

Yeah, that what I was thinking. I'll try it this weekend and see how things go.

Another question: If it proves to be too thick, can it be thinned down with acetone or something?

Okay, well it's too thick to go through the airbrush, and I couldn't get it thinned down, so I ended up brushing it on. And like you said, it doesn't match
