side markers are a breeze ive taken mine off tons of times, just take the lining away from the wheelwell by unscrewing the black clips then theres one screw holding the side marker in, once you get that off the side marker just unclips. uncliping it might take a little effort if your cars having a bad day haha. hey if youre in hayward you should come out to dublin this saturday we're having a mazda meet.

that drastic difference in tint is going to look really weird...
go lighter in the rear, maybe a 20% and 35-50% up front.

 

how would I do that? I don't have that on my car but think about it.

5% in back, only 70% up front. Just imagine a VERY dark window right next to a window with hardly ANY tint.

There IS NO SUCH THING as a 70% law.

it's wrong. The 70% applies ONLY to tint applied by the car manufacturer. See my comment in post #10 about that.

any and ALL aftermarket tint on the front windows is illegal. Trust me on this one

 

how much is Mazda going to charge you? Do they warranty their tint?

The mazda techs won't actually tint the window, they schedule an installer to show up and do the work.
Might be cheaper to get rid of the middle man (Mazda) and got to a tint shop

Just about any tint shop can and should be able to tint an RX-8 in less then 2 hours.

 

'their own technicial guy' probably means that they have one guy that they usually work with. (trust me, one of my best friends runs a very large Ford Dealership)

Do yourself a favor: shop around. Call a few local places, get quotes.
Ask how long the tint is warrantied for.
what happens if you get a ticket? (discount for removing / reapplying tint?)

^^^^ That is a PERFECT example of what NOT to do. Tinting the front windshield is the stupidest thing you could do.

Go to difference places and get quotes . I paid 150 for mine . 35% side 20% rest.

Dealer will screw you .
